Big Screen TV's
Looking to pimp out a bedroom....looking at some stuff earlier at circuit city & a couple other places, but i don't know shit about these new HDTV flatscreens (look sweet), are they worth it, or are the giant projection/ or regular flatscreen big boys still price-wise one of the best bets? Who's got the consumer reports TV edition layin around? haha
Also, how big is too big distance wise...whats the best size to feet away ratio?

They've come down a ton in price
what was $6000 for 2 years is now down to $2800. I bet it comes down to $2000 soon. Maybe try to get one that is a few months old in the paper I think they will keep going down a lot. They are just a monitor, so you will need to hook up receivers, cable etc. to them. Quality is very nice. Personally I like the prices on the 40" sizes right now the $10,000 ones will come down a lot on price. Buy.com always has a good deal that should be the stores |

Go to Sound Advice if they have one near you. They carry the high end models. Check out the Mitsubishi Diamond Series. The image quality is pure perfection.

the rule of thumb for picking a big screen for the room vs distance is you want to be back 3 times the distance of the screen.
Example a 60 inch screen you want your eyes to be back about 180 inches. its a little different for a wide screen tv, but about the same

Toshiba does indeed rock, after checking out tons of brands, side by side in store the Toshibas consistantly had the nicest picture. My 50 inch is about 7 feet away from my couch, perfect distance imho for movies and xbox |

Toshiba and Hitachi are the best Projections out there. I researched and asked around at 6 different stores in kingston including specialty electronics stores, futureshop, leons, the brick and audiotronic. The highest recommended one was hitachi.

I used to have a 50" Hitachi Super Ultravision. It was amazing!
I'm starting to thing a flat screen 42" might be the way to go. DH |

I went thru the same thing a few weeks ago... I ended up getting a 57inch Toshiba HD from bestbuy. It was on sale from $2,200 to just $1,799.
