June 21, 2003 the LZW patent on compression/decompression expired
LZW compression is used in GIF and certain TIFF formats.
As of June 21,2003 the LZW patent on compression/decompression expired in all countries except Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy and Japan. In the listed countries the LZW patent will expire in June/July 2004. |
