Actually, the CDN dollar value is rising, not falling. The chart you posted shows the cost in Canadian $ to purchase one US$. So, compared to the US$, the CDN$ is getting stronger.

Edit: O.K., perhaps I stand corrected. Relative to the activity over the entire period shown in the chart, the CDN$ was rising. But relative to the last couple of weeks, you are right, the dollar is dropping again.

that would be good news Sabai....for every $1US Canadians will get more Canadian$. ie: if the dollar is worth .75cents US today, and tomorrow it drops to .70cents US....you will get an extra .5cents on every US dollar you cash. ;)

ahhahaha, please please please hit $0.60!!!

I would make sooo much money if that happened... I have tons of US cash in the bank I should have withdrawn 6-8 months ago... If I take it out at 1.34 I would lose sooo much :|

Oh man. It was at a HUGE high at .72 not too long ago.

Our economy is falling apart.
But I have to admit the interest lately is good. Bank rates are down... where is all this fucking money coming from!?!?!?!

Well, the mortgage rates rock

I am at under 5% (cant remember if it is 4.8 or 4.9) for 5 years. My mortgage payments are insanely small. I pay 20% extra every week and barely even notice the cash come out of my account..

I'd say banks are swimming in money cuz I pay $15 per month for my account, plus $4.50 everytime I use my debit card at an abm plus $0.50 per debit card transaction...

for my business, we send out wires every week, I pay between $25-125 per wire (depends on amount of money wired)...

The banks rake in HUGE money that way

As for why the interest rates are so low? I'd say they are trying to stimulate the economy (easier access to cheaper capital = more startups).

All I care about it the exchange rate tho...

Due to your balance? My personal account has quite a high balance imo and I still pay all sorts of fees. Of course, I havent complained or anything yet, I just figured everyone pays fees for using abm's and shit?

Hell, I even get charged if I go to the bank in person to take out cash...

My business accounts have insane balances as well (I should invest some of the money but I havent yet) and I still pay mad fees. seriously, last month my interest and bank fees expense account had a balance of $1200 for the month. Nearly all of the fees were for the 40 or so wires I sent out tho.

Personally, I gotta pay at least $50 bucks a month, prolly more when you add the base account fees on to it and all.

talk to your bank and find out the different account options, most banks have various plans to suit different needs of ppl. there is no way in hell you should have to pay 50 bucks a month in fees. thats crazy. like for example, im with TD, i get all my US checks converted for free, unlimited use of ATM machines, no cost to deposit and withdraw money for like 10 bucks a month.

Interesting that the very thing I predicted and talked about in this thread:
http://board.gofuckyourself.com/show...e+AND+Canadian

Is now coming to pass.

Also interesting to go back and read the posts of those who chose to fucking argue with me about it.

Anyone who listened to me back then, who kept some funds in their US account, will be very happy that they waited to exchange their US money. Last week my bank was paying $1.32 Cdn on the US dollar. Today they are paying $1.39, hopefully on one of these upswings the value will rise back into the $1.45 range (and settle there).

ALRIGHT! finally some GOOD news!

let's get down on our knees and pray that the governor of the Bank of Canada lowers rates some more!

3 cheers for the 60 cent dollar!

again its luck, without sars and mad cow growth numbers would not have been revised leading to all this. we won't see the dollar drop to where it was before unless there are some big changes, the greenback was overvalued.

rates should drop more before the year is out and that could push the dollar up to the 1.45 range. but if the american economy doesn't show improvement it may not. i would be shocked if we got back to the 1.5+ range we were at.
