New version of the description length validator!!!

Since the sun is not shining on us today and the water is to cold to bathe we created a new version of our free description validator script.

Since we realized some idiots wrote a description on 20 characters and added 10 spaces to reach a limit set to 30 we upgraded the script to check for extra spaces (when pressing submit) in this new version.

For you guys already using the script it should be pretty easy to upgrade it since I wrote some explanations on how it works on the page and what needs to be added.

If you decide to use this (or any) version of our script please add a link from your submission page to our site. We appreciate it.

The new version can be found at the same url as the previous:

    www.filthbot.com/usefulscripts/

Questions about the script can be written here or asked on ICQ, If you have problems adding it we can help you..

    Have a nice day everyone!

...what stops them from just adding "_" or "." or whatever?

That falls into the same category as writing a description like "APPROVE THIS YOU MOTHERFUCKER"... don't ya think?

.. then he could as well blacklist if he sees 10 spaces after eachother?

How about showing the desc with " " around it the TGP html templates/script? I bet there are other chars you cant see either, ISO 8859-1 character 160 for example or html tags that does nothing?

Not trying to diss your java-script .. just curious about the use of such a script, or if its really the right way to do it.

uhuh.. java-script without the "-" turned into "hahahahahahahahahaha"?

Well... I don't think you get the point really...

What this script does is to decrease the number of to short descriptions by checking the length and not allowing you to submit to short ones. This helps both the submitter and the webmaster in the following ways:

                        1. The submitter can see how many characters is written and when he/she gets within the length the webmaster wants it the character counters background turns green and the submit button gets activated. That does texts like these a bit unnecessary:

                        http://www.hotfunhouse.com/cgi-bin/agp/partner.cgi

Another big advantage for the submitter is not to need to go to the saving page and get an error for submitting to long descriptions. This script does that on the same page and in real time. This is originally where we got the idea from. We got tired of jumping back and forth between the form and the next page to get the correct length.

                        2. The webmaster won't have to delete posts or edit descriptions in the same way that he/she would have to do without it. There will always be some who enters the characters you mention but they will probably be very few... and if caught they risk getting black listed.

Of course there's always ways to fool a java-script, the easiest way would be to turn it off in your client. This is not a complete solution to that but it sure helps out. That I'm right is supported by the number of mgps/tgps using it since we released the first version about two months ago. Some of them are:

                        moviesorgy.com
                        scarecrowmovies.com
                        cum2themovies.com
                        ramis-movies.com
                        sexy-flix.com
                        gabrio.com
                        perfy.com
                        dreamvids.com

I've seen it on about 15 other sites too so far...

The only way to get 100% sure is to create a server script that is validating the description, but most site owners don't know how to do that. The general knowledge in web scripting seems to be quite low but most guys/gals know how to add a client script especially if they get instructions (like we give them).

The time saved with this script could be used to something more useful than submitting/approving galleries. Like drinking a beer with friends (dricka öl med kompisarna in Swedish).
