the few people i know worth more than a million are working their asses off if they are still actively in this business.
it's when you leave it behind that you can move on to other things...
myself and the people I know are probably the opposite.. but the point really is that you're choosing to do that work, and you're working for yourself, you're not doing it because you have to.
Money takes you into a whole new realm in life. It's true that you have less stresses about making ends meet, however wealth brings with it many new responsibilities and stresses of a different kind because now you have to manage your money effectively and find ways to both keep it and make it grow.
More than anything wealth brings people stresses. You will no longer be able to trust people as easily as when you didn't have money. Everyone's motivations become suspect, especially with the women you meet and have relationships with. When you have money you won't believe how quickly people want to be your friend. You'll be inundated with relatives and others wanting you to invest in their deals. Family members become envious and jealous typically. Charities will start sending you requests for donations. Bankers will call you to offer you loans, give you platinum cards and unlimited credit lines, etc. etc.
What this all means is decisions, neverending decisions. Time consuming and many guilt trips over who you decide to help and not to help with your resources.
Than you have to worry about crime. You are now a target. Everywhere you go you are noticed. The waiter at the restaurant sees a platinum card and writes it down and goes shopping online the next day. The maids and landscapers know your property inside out and that you have cash in the house and jewelry and they have access to it easily when you travel or are at work. You don't think it will happen but it does. I built a big house in LA and 2 weeks after we moved in we had a break in attempt. My mother lives on an estate in the Philadelphia suburbs, totally tucked away in a private cul-de-sac, that you can't even see from the road and she's had two break-ins. You know it had to be the landscapers because who else would know the coming and going timing and back ways in. I'm not saying it happens all the time, but it makes you paranoid because you just know the insiders are watching and know a lot about you. And the wealthier you get the more you have to have people around you handling your day to day small stuff cause you just can't do it yourself.
You should be happy and have peace of mind with or without money. That is the real goal.
And always remember you enter this world butt naked and you shall leave this world butt naked. You can not take it with you so it is all just a game in reality. Money can enslave your mind if you allow it to. Enjoy it and spend it wisely. Always give at least 10% of everything you make to others in need. Always try to save 10% for the rainy day fund that you never touch except in emergencies. Don't pay retail for anything. Always demand and expect a deal on everything you buy.
Have fun most of all and enrich others not so fortunate as much as you can. It will always come back ten fold in terms of inner fulfillment.
myself and the people I know are probably the opposite.. but the point really is that you're choosing to do that work, and you're working for yourself, you're not doing it because you have to.
Money can't buy you happiness but it WILL let you rent it for a while.
In my opinion this summarizes it pretty well. Money will definitely make you happy in the short term no matter how miserable you are, but if you dont direct that money eventually to the real things that make you happy, whatever they may be, family, gf, wife, life, eventually it just becomes something else in your life.
Maybe at one point you had a shitty apartment and then you got a better one, sure it made you happy, but after a year there that excitement is gone and the apartment by itself isnt merit for any more happiness.
Anyway, I think we all know what will make us happy, we just arent all willing to admit it or make the real effort to attain it.
amen to that, cuz the fuggin tax man makes Guido the Killer Pimp look tame...
what's a government anyways? but a large well organize mafia family with citizens that 'pay protection money'
oh what a silly world we live in...

Funniest request I had for money.... I got an invitation sometime last fall from the Rebuplican National Committee to go have dinner with President Bush... just $2k per plate. That one made me giggle a little.
