WTF? MPGs playing in web pages?

for the last few days everytime I click on a movie link the stupid thing opens up in a web page instead of the Windows Media Player. Is there like some secret setting I am missing here? Even the old links that used to open up in the media player are opening up in a web page now

Change your IE6 settings, and your Quick time / WMP MIME settings

ya, very annoying - but I can't find the 'option' to turn it off. Everything I tried does not work.

Is it a white background? Did you install Quicktime anytime soon? Because it sounds like Quicktime stole Media Players job.

ya, thats what is going on. I get the big Q just before the movie loads. But I have had quicktime on the comp for ages now... I will go try to fuck with quicktime - maybe even take it off the system, who needs it anyways?

Just go back into Windows movie player, and make it your default player in the options menu.
That should do it, no need to uninstall quicktime

I checked in quicktime, somehow all the 'play mpgs' things go t checked. So after unchecking them all is good now.

Still do not see the need for quicktime - its about as usefull as real player...

Hey, who says you can't learn anything on GFY?

what about that annoying fuzz sound 5 seconds into a video clip? What a drag. Is that on purpose, because I don't see how it works.
