Why would you want to move from the UK to US and "become legal"?

You intererested in stepping into a frying pan with more restrictions and laws to inhibit your freedom and subjecting yourself to more chance of a term on imprisonment than any country in the world?

Permanently or just for an extended holiday? You can stay upto 3 months without requiring a visa, but you're not allowed to work or look for work. You can theoretically stay for 3 months, return to the UK for a day or two, and then go back to the US for another 3 months. I did this for a year, until immigrations told me to stop taking the piss and get a visa

Good luck trying to get one though! My wife lives and works in the USA - she's English but she's got a green card. I was told to forget about applying for a green card (even though I'm entitled to one apparently!) because it would take upto six months for it to be processed, and to apply for a residents visa instead, which I was told would take two weeks, and then to apply for a green card once I was in the US.

I applied for a visa in the middle of April, and I'm still waiting...

Just get married. My cousin married a gal from the UK and didn't have any trouble.

I'd recommend doing an Elvis wedding though.
