That's a great setup. They've even got a decent sized light in it as well.

But you could probably build one youself for less than 1/3 the price. A 600 watt lamp will only run you about $300, that and the CO2 setup are the only real costly pieces to the puzzle.

he lined the walls with "space blankets" which are reflective survival blankets.. works nicely he just hooked one to the shower curtain and one to each wall.

Tell "your friend" to invest in a TDS meter keeping track of the minerals/plant food that you're feeding them. This is a very important tool...a good one will run you $100-150.

You mentioned that he's doing it in a bathtub. I hope this isn't in a bathroom that he might have to use regularaly. At some points...they plants need total darkness for 12-18 hours.

After 4 weeks of 24, you have to switch to 12/12. Depends on how big you want your bush.

You guys should look into scrog to maximize space, harvest, and most importantly... time.

It's been a while since the lights were fired up, but I'm pretty sure 12/12 is where you want to be for flowering.

Not sure if I understand you.

The plants will grow under 24 hours of light, thats the point. Going to 12/12 tricks the plant into thinking seasons are changing and tells it its time to flower (ie make buds). You dont want to start with 12/12 as the plant will come right out of the ground and head straight into flowering. And unless you want tiny tiny plants.

Let the plant go for a month, they grow like weeds, no pun intended. get them to about 12 to 14 inches, and then hit 12/12. They will jump about another foot or more during flower(depending on how far the light is kept from the plant).

Shit, you can keep them in 24 hour light for 3 months if you want to end up with monster plants.

Yeah, scrog is the sea of green method.

Ive have done several moderate sized grows, and will keep seedlings under normal light until they are about 4 inches tall. Then get them under 24 hours of 450 watt high pressure sodium. Never hurts them. Then if you really want to kick them in the sack, switch to 1000 watts during flower and grow like a pro.

I've got a 150 watt and a 1000 watt sitting in storage. I wish I had not gotten the 1000, and gone with the 600. In small spaces that fucker puts off a TON of heat...no matter how much circulation we had, it was tough to keep the proper temp.

Yeah, you need a big room for 1000 watts, no closet grows with those things. I had a grow once in an entire apartment sized bedroom just using the 450 watt and it was a constant 96 degress. Which is fine, but was a pain in the ass. Plus you stand under those things long enough, and I dont know about you, but my skin used to feel funny right afterwards.

Ahhhh...the buzz and hum. That brings back memories.

My supplier here now has a buddy who rented two apartments on above a bar. He lived in one and in the other...they had 8 1000 watters. They laid down plastic tarps and dump soil right on the floor of the apartment and grew just like that. I want to say they had about 200 plants.

The got thru harvest and cleared the place out...well, the plants at least. 3 days after hauling the load out the place got raided. Lost their lights...but with what they had, I'm sure they replaced them pretty quickly.

You can do more than 10 under 1000. Ive done 10 under 450 no problem.

If you scrog real tight under 1000 I bet you could do 20 to 30. But thats too much weed.

I did, and the plants rocked. Northern Lights/Kush from Marc Emery in BC.

I had an entire attic space, did it in the winter. There were circulating fans on both sides of the attic. The space was 10 feet wide by 20 feet long. Even when the temp out side was in the teens, the room was hotter than hell at about 98.

There won't be a next time. Too much at stake now. As much as I'd not like to have to spend any green on the green, the risk is just too high. Someday perhaps we'll all be free to do as we please...somewhere at least. The first spot in North America that makes it legal...I'm there.

Well...first place besides Cali. I've got ferrets, and some 1920's California law makes them illegal as well...something about eating chickens.

First time out sucked ass. But it's definitely a learning process.

I've always started with 10 seeds. I could get clones now if I wanted...this would be ideal.

The second time out...8 germinated and by the time we had sexed them I had 7 females. That's a hell of a good ratio.

We got anywhere from just under 2 oz to just over 4 oz on the various plants. Total yield was something around 1.6 pounds. I didn't give any to anyone, and my girl and I had a nice private stash. We started right back up and this harvest lasted us until the process was complete again, at which point we had it down pat.
