Not necessarily newbies... idiots ruin this biz that come after easy money with no fucking clue, often known as newbies. Not all newbies are evil though, just like 95% imho. Also define newbie, I can be considered a newbie, I don't make $10k/month yet.

edit: see the post above mine.

i'd say more than 3/4 of the real players out there base their BUSINESS on newbies with affiliate programs and other like business models.

I agree with SleazyDream. Anyone targetting surfers is using a business plan from the '90's.

i currently make about the same amount of money from targeting webmasters as targeting surfers.

but I have little tolerance for stupidity so I let cybercat handle all the webmaster work. if i had to do it I WOULDN'T do it. - simple as that. I get pissed off too easily.

I don't think newbs will ruin the biz. Either they learn quick and start pumping good traffic around and making money for themselves and all involved with them or they make fuckall and quit 3 months into it.

it's not the newbs anyone should be scared of.... it's the guys that know what the hell they're doing that are fully capable of jacking you up that people should be scared of.

yep. (referred to as slugs) often used in hunting deer in wooded areas with much residental housing nearby. that bullet (slug) from a shotgun has about a 100 yard kill range but won't travel much more than 300 yards - unlike a rifle bullet that can travel several miles if one misses their taget and be a DANGER to residentual houseing and the like.

WHy would I do that. If I gave you a link to my 1:50 sponsor you would go sign up, not knowing what you are doing, and saturate that sponsor for 2 weeks. Effectively hurting a lot of people's bottom line. The 1.5 dollars per sale I would get from you is not worth it lol.

This is the only thing that does hurt the biz when it comes to newbies. Is they get greedy and saturate the fuck out of a sponsor until they give up.

Other than that ... newbs are nothing to be scared of.

We're all "noobs" to some degree.

What do I mean?

This is an ever changing business.

What worked last year doesn't work this year. What works tomorrow won't work next week.

Standards change, formats change, faster connections, faster computers, different languages, different cultural markets.

As an adult webmaster you are in a constant state of adaptation, it's those who refuse to learn, or grow and stand still that die off.

Now don't get me wrong. There are of course many successful individuals who do the same thing today as they were doing 5 years ago, sticking with a plan that has shown them nothing but rewards.

Anyway just my opinion.

They don't mean shit to me, yet. I don't think many newbies buy designs... atleast sofar my customers mainly know what they want.
When/if I launch an affiliate program I need to adjust my attitude.

Newbies suck. But if they're honest, willing to work hard, and have good ethics, then eventually these will be people who are a credit to the industry and could develop to be "big players". Unfortunately, a great majority of newbies just have intentions of cheating and spamming to see if they can make a quick buck and they do ruin things.

for the record, I'm against handguns in total, as well as automatic weapons. I'm for rifles and shotguns but not for the same reasons as most people. My reasons in favor of them is political.

I know a bit about shotgun ammo cause although I'm against hunting in total I know it can't be stopped in my area. that being said I also know dozens and dozens of people with houses in rural areas with BULLET holes in their homes from stray rifle bullets. If these hunters used shotguns rather than rifles many many many fewer people's LIVES wouldn't be endangered. ( i even know people who have been SHOT by stray hunter bullets) Plus animals would be killed more hunamily as it would FORCE hunter to take closer shots (under 100 yards) which would be MORE accurate and more deadly and cause LESS wounded animals that get away as now many idiots try and kill deer at 600+ yards and just wound or miss them. Personally I don't like that much at all.

just my 2 pennies on that topic.

Growing up in Texas it was a big thing to fish and hunt.

Tried it. I can handle fishing, but after my first couple of hunting kills, couldn't do it anymore.

Yeah I'm a pussy.

I'll eat a big fat ol' steak as long as I don't have to whack the cow ;)

losing side of what?

you stated that all beer comes from the SAME grain. utter bullshit.

i don't pretend to be an expert on shot gun ammo.

ohh come on, you're playing a semantics game with the grain issue wiggling and squirming your way out of it. everyone knows and can see that. if there's a difference in the grain then PROVE it - not with some pany abmy website reference, but by real world taste.

take my bet

oh come now - do you need to respond to one of my posts. sit back for a couple of minutes. then produce an entirely new reply. LOL

You said that all beer was from the same grain. that was utter bullshit (proven). now you want to play some games. cause you feel bad about being shown the dirt.

fun.

LOL you still angry?

Come on man, let's not hold grudges.

I'm not a bad guy, we didn't hang long enough at the show for you to really figure that out but ask Tom he'll vouch for me.

If you don't recall who I am, I'm the guy that was hanging with Aaron M and Charly and we all went looking for the space bulldog.

I had saved one of those little nerf rocket things to take home to my 11 year old niece and you broke it...LOL

I'm not mad at you

This is the only thing that does hurt the biz when it comes to newbies. Is they get greedy and saturate the fuck out of a sponsor until they give up.

Other than that ... newbs are nothing to be scared of.
Maybe You wouldn't, but I see a lot of posts on this board that show a link to an Affiliate/Spnsor in their Logo. What's that about. Are threy just BS or are they wanting to push that Sponsor because it works and they make money too. Othrewise why the AD in the Logo??

WOW 1:50 I If that's for real, would be willing to to co/op share with you. BTW How does saturatation hurt the market? If it's that HOT there is room for more promo
