well, formatted C and re-installed XP and the drivers - seems the pc is not releasing the IP address for the LAN when I tpye ipconfig /release
if I do this on "this" pc, I get a success message - on that new one, it shits out an IP and some info that doesn't match the working pc's |
dude here is what you do, first shut down all computers, then shut off your modems and routers, count to 80 then turn on your modem then your router then your comptuers it will work after this I had this problem several times the first time i called my cable company and this is what they told me to do and it works every time

Done this several times, Tom. Normally this should work, but for some reason, even though the settings are telling it to check for dynamic IP info, this puppy is not releasing the old/incorrect IP info - therefore it cant pick up the new info.
I've had the router/cable modem and all PCs off for several hours today (and yesterday). When I type: "C:\>ipconfig /release" in my Win2000 pc, I get: "Windows 2000 IP Configuration" on the new pc: "C:\>ipconfig /release" shoots back a local area connection with an Autoconfiguration IP Address. It's holding onto this shit like it was gold. |
