...and one more - and this guy is THE BEST, no arguement... Michael Batio...was Michael Batio in the 80's when he was with Holland, went to L.A. and changed his name to Michael Angelo came back to Chicago and became Michael Batio once more. And now, finally, he appears to be calling himself Michael Angelo again LOL

Never really liked his playing. Cool to watch the double guitar bit though.

Now we're talking... Al Dimeola is my all time favorite. Flawless technique and the most blinding speed ever. I have his instructional video and it's rediculous. There's a couple of times he's demonstrating something and I swear he's got this look on his face like: "you'll NEVER be able to do this, NEVER!" hahaha

I like Frank Gambale too, as well as Paco De Lucia. Who knew other webmasters were into this stuff?

I know he's not in the same league as some of the other guitarists mentioned here, but you should also check out Zakk Wylde. He always sounded good in his stuff with Ozzy, but his solo stuff is better as far as guitar work goes.

Check out "Counterfeit God" on Kazaa sometime.

Joe Satriani

and his student Kirk Hammet (Metallica), played amazing for a teenager. I'm not sure if he improved much since then, but he surely did impressive stuff back then for his age i think.

saw micheal angelo in person a few months ago... i'd have to go with him. extremely amazing shit.

he played w/ this guitar... played both necks at once w/ all hammer ons... then he switched over to:

right guitar, standard playing style
right guitar, criss crossing his hands
right guitar, over the top

left guitar, standard playing style
left guitar, criss crossing his hands

all sounded fuckin badass.. but yeah, hes the fastest in the world... fastet isn't the best, but hes also a very good all around guitarist. and of course, he looks like this:

http://dreamache.com/gfymusic/Michea...ed%20Kills.wmv

thats a small 6.5 meg video of him playing Speed Kills. d/l it

If it wasn't for George Harrison, the beatles would never have got a contract - That guy was good!
Others equally as good, if not better - Depending on taste:
Mark Knopfler - A super great!
Eric Clapton - Such a feel for his axe
BB King - Pure class
Muddy Waters - Three cords persong and as hot as mustard!
John Lee Hooker - Class and style and bridging styles
Jimmy Page - Awesome
Santana - A genuine master - Get this guy live
Tiny Tim - Americans, answer to weapons of mass distruction!

I saw him play in Boone, NC three months ago. It was a dave matthews and tim reynolds concert. It was unplugged and still rocked.

He's probably only about 5'6''

yup
I saw her open for Lizzy Borden once and she did this song where she had the guitar hanging off her and her violin and would swap back and forth between playing the violin (uberfast) and the guitar and not miss a note (and while also switching between a bow and a guitar pick).

http://www.greatkat.com some shitty samples on the site, but an idea of her intensity.....

I'm surprised there was some talk of Al DiMeola & Paco DeLucia WITHOUT mentioning the father & mentor of these guys, simply the most intense, emotional, and technically unbelievable guitar player that ever touched the instrument: JOHN MCLAUGHLIN!!

Check out his Mahvishnu Orchestra's INNER MOUNTING FLAME (1973). You won't believe what your ears are hearing.

Others outstanding albums:

Santan's double Live MOONFLOWER (1973)
Al DiMeola's LAND OF THE MIDNIGHT SUN (1976)
Hendrix's Elictric Lady Land (1968)
Zepplin's double Live SONG REMAINS THE SAME (1973)

Killer shit! Air Guitar's fantasy!
