I used to train in Daito Ryu Aikijitsu. If you are looking for a good fighting system to inorporate into your training, you might want to give that a try. The striking was basically Shodakan Karate, but that was just the begining.

The Boneprone Family has had several fightning promotions throughout the year and fighters representing.
In fact I may become a Commisioner and help sanction these events better with boxing undercards in our state in the upcoming few months. Ive been talking with some small boxing federations about cross over fighting and the such and see a great future market in it. Here are some pics from last summer i posted here. http://board.gofuckyourself.com/show...threadid=69995

Ideally the Family next year this time will be well rounded just like any other family of the past involved in not just adult, but in fighting promotoins, off shores gambling, local resturants, and other ventures.
Those of you who know me and actually do know the BP4L family know of the resturants and the gambling and of course the adult arena i am involved in. But I have a real stong intrested in the fiewld of sports entertainment and UFC and Boxing style promotions. Its no secret ive been a WWF type fan for sometime now and market a lot of my image around this crazy simialr style of marketing. If we can cross this over to boxing or UFC cards, add some dramma and some light I think we may have a product. Ive been looking into this and consulting professionals in the field for sometime now. Looks like we may have a product soon. Stay tuned. More BP4L family to come.

Get the 'Gracies in Action' video if you want to see some good fights between Kenpo guys and Gracie family members, and the resulting grappling mayhem.
Bone doesn't xxxotica have some cage matches under his belt? He doesn't talk about them much... |

Nice weapon, but as in everything else, even firearms are personal choice, and I dont care for Beretta's. They are good guns, I just dont like the feel of them for some reason.
I prefer H&K, then a Glock, Sig, Beretta, Colt, Springfield Arms. |

If you don't know how to fight on the ground, then whatever style you are training in is useless.
MMA/NHB has proven that. GJJ has proven that. One of my favorite fight clips of a Master Kung Fu Wing Chun fighter whatever vs. a NHB fighter. http://www.subfighter.com/modules.ph...p=getit&lid=40 Goes to the ground and the Kung Fu guy gets his arm broken.

IN a ring one on one clearly you need ground fighting skills. But go back hundreds of years when these more "traditional" arts were used in battle and war and weapons were used. First person to hit the ground would be dead. Fighting had to be standing. Grappling wouldnt be practicle. Same with fighting on the streets this day in age. You hit the ground and the boy and his nigga friends are gunna be jumping you and fucking kickin you in the head when and if you ever hit the ground. Rolling around on the ground grappling someome in the street is not practicle for street fighting. Standing and fightning off multiple opponents is. Something I think the old school traditional arts focus on more. Its all about adapting to the environment. The drawback of much of the old martial arts is thier inability to adapt to fighintg one on one in the ring and being sucessful. Clearly for fighting in the ring one on one grapple or ground fightning arts of some kind are king. The mistake here however is when everyone discards other styles just because they dont work in this particualr artificial fight environment. On the other hand one who is only a master of the grapple and the ground fighthing would not be a wise choice for battle field or even street combat art. Its all about environment and fight settings when it comes to what fighting styles are truely best. Clearly the stand up arts are no match for the ground fightning arts in a ring one on one. But in now way should you think ground fighting is overall best because of this single test environment. Well roundedness and an ability to adapt and learning sevral dicplines is the best option. There is no one "best" art. Our milatary and special forces have been working on these more practicle art forms for many years, taking from many diciplines for what is practicle for them and in several situational environements. Something to consider.

Most one on one fight end up on the groud though, I've seen it happen many many time. One thing we learn in kenpo, which taugh no real ground fighting was to take out your openent hard and fast b4 his buddies showed up.
Cuuse like you said if there freinds show up and your on the ground your fucked ![]()

To make things intresting we should have 3 on 3 cage matches.
Last man standing for his team wins. All fighting at the same time! You think this would change the needed ability to adapt to an environment? I dont think the grapplers or people on the ground would do as well if you change variables to the already artificial fight environment. A totally new fight style would evolve as dominant. What so many people have labled as "best" before would probably no longer be "best" when simply changing a varaible in this artificial fight environment occur.

I dont want to take away from the in ring fighters with my post, clearly they are the best in the ring given the current environment. Its been proven year after year.
But maybe its time to change some varibles? Maybe its time to take into account that this may not be the ONLY fight environment. More importantly maybe its time someone step up and try to make a buck or 2 changing some varibles and marketing a new product to the masses. I think it requires more than just cross over fighting like so many people think.

While stationed in S. Korea for 3 years I did about 2 1/2 years of Tang Soo Doo...
now since I'm old and lazy I do sig229 (40 S&W) & p14-45...or mak-90 or sks... other than that when I get hot and sweaty with a head band on it might be because I'm yanking my crank.... ![]() ![]()

Well said Boneprone. Sounds like you know your shit.
Another consideration is body type; although this should be taken into account before you begin studying by picking a style best suited to your physical characteristics and then integrating other styles/techniques. The best empty hand fighters are the ones that excel at all ranges of fighting: kicking, punching, trapping and grappling. |

Boneprone, Buzzard, if you're getting jumped by multiple guys with a determined attack you're fucked anyway. Better to grapple and try to break a limb quick, move on to the next guy KNOWING guy #1 is all through. If you try to strike with multiple opponents who are aggressive and all striking at you you're gonna get KTFO quick and easy, you can't block that many arms and legs at the same time.
Also Boneprone, as you know, if someone has a weapon you have to disarm them before taking them down, that's just common sense. BJJ has some good disarmament techniques, maybe not as good as some other arts but definitely effective. At least that's what Rener Gracie tells me. For me it's all theoretical. If I get confronted by multiple guys, I'm jetting. They'll have to catch me to kill me. |
