Should the lawyers be let off the leash?

What do people think of message boards that encourage users to hack servers and post links to stolen content?

Do you think that -

1. the message board owner
2. the hackers
3. both

- are liable for lost revenue, consequential bandwidth usage etc etc?

Or should I just get over it and get on with it?

It's not worth suing. You'll never collect even if you get a judgement. You'll just end up with more lawyer fees. In most cases I think the hosts and sponsors will see the light and take care of the problem. When they don't a little net justice gets administered. Seems to work pretty well.

Not entirely true SpaceAce -- Brad did manage to win against Leo the password trader. It stands out since it's the only court case he's ever won that I know of lol, but he did collect on it after a time.

How is it that in this situation the host is actually liable as well?
