I took my kid to see it and it was fun from start to finish.
Its not a sophisticated movie by any means which is why the critics chewed it to shreds. But if you like street racing, seeing Miami babes prancing around in tight shorts, and lots of car stunt action, you'll love it.
As usual the critics have been proven full of shit. Its doing great at the box office.

If you're a fan of the whole street racing scene, you'll like the movie.
The dialogue is terrible, Ludacris can't act to save his life, but luckily has no real function in the movie. All the "theatrical" elements of storytelling aren't done too well, which is exactly why all those balding, middle-aged critics gave it such a bad review.
But, I felt the action sequences were well done and I felt genuine suspense in several of the car chase sequences.
And last but not least, I nearly came all over myself when Eva Mendes comes out in those booty shorts in the floating cabin scene.Comment

It was nice that they included some actual muscle cars instead of just imports.

I saw a preview for it a while ago when I went to see another movie (forget which one), and they practically showed the whole movie. It was obvious that it would be a DVD rental for me. Didn't look good enough to waste money or time on in the theatre.

Maybe it's just me, but I seem to be oversensitive to CGI. Even though I just saw previews, it was obvious that in some of the shots the cars were computer generated. That bugs me for some reason.
