I think special effect movies like this are cool to see on the big screen.

Yeah, the action scenes were intense, especially when he was fighting those dogs, that kicked ass.
What I don't understand is his dad's storyline is, they didn't really tell the story of what he was doing to himself, even in the end, it kinda made my head spin like "what the fuck is going on". |

It's not that bad, its alright. The beginning is slow and the end is over the top and the dad storyline I dont remember from the comics but the middle is decent enough. If you're a fan of the hulk and want to see him kick some ass check out the middle, otherwise just for the DVD.
Nothing spectacular, but if you're a fan, it was done moderately well, just that crazy story line with the dad screws it over a bit at the end, WTF? ![]() |

I work in mainstream comic books and hate it when a big studio does a sendup of a comic and fucks it up by changing shit around.
There are failures after failures of movies that do this but someway, somehow some knucklehead will decide he knows better than the creators and the fans and fuck it up beyond recognition. In the original Hulk story there was no 'father' problem until some numbnutz psychiatrist figured it would be good to add to the story. The HULK was a simple story of the monster in all of us and how you should treat each person decently or you may face that monster. These Marvel Comics movies are making money hand over fist because they have 40+ years of fans waiting for them. They were so over the top with action that it wasn't til recently that the special effects companies could duplicate some of them. The stories are simple. How can you fuck em' up? I remember about 10 years ago they made a 'Punisher' movie and some asscrack decided to remove the big white skull from his chest which is like removing the 'S' from Superman's costume or the bat from Batman's costume. So here we are watching the movie and not knowing who or what the fuck is going on and the movie which had a neat cast tanked. So here we have 'The Hulk' which is basically a smash/crash/bash kinda story and it's turned into some artsy-fartsy-pseudo-psychological mishmash that you have to wait damn near an hour to see the main character? I don't care how artsy-fartsy 'Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon' was the director Ang Lee shoulda listened and read 'Stan Lee' and STFU. The HULK was the centerpiece of Marvel Comics as he was the wildcard. You never knew if he would do harm or do good cause he was so unpredictable and dangerous. They had several superhero groups formed just to stop his ass and they couldn't. Heck, even the most popular modern day Marvel superhero 'Wolverine' from the 'X Men' was originally created to stop the Hulk. Everybody wanted to stop the Hulk because he was a non-stop nightmare that could show up at anytime, anywhere and just fuck things all up. I know the HULK movie looks like it'll make at least $200 mill but it should teach Hollywood a lesson: Don't-fuck-with-perfection....Read the fucking comic book, do what it already has laid out and STFU. |

Greg: you are right on just about all accounts but I think it will do semi well because people like to see CG that is well done and the Hulk is, its not really ground breaking but its good enough to make you go wow a few times. The other thing is that even though the story is fucked up the character does remain more or less true to himself, meanwhile, daredevil, which sucked ass, the characters were made too hollywood. Daredevil killing, although it has happened, just doesnt fit who the character is, and bullseye was way too fucking over the top. The story could have been better but at least the Hulk character himself was more or less true to the comics which is more than what could be said for Daredevil. Also X-Men and Spiderman which did well (duh) were true to their characters also. Even with the costume updates, they retained who the characters were, especially wolverine in part II, damn he fucked those bitches up

I liked Daredevil except for Ben Affleck. I could have seen Ben STILLER playing Daredevil more than Ben Affleck.
![]() I liked Spiderman alot, but I had a hard time accepting Toby McGuire as Peter Parker. I always saw him being slightly taller and thinner. I LOVED X-Men and X-Men 2. I wouldn't change a THING about either of them, I don't think. I do want to go see The Hulk, even if I'm disappointed. I loved the show so much when I was a kid, I feel obligated to see the movie. The movie that disappointed me the most lately was the Matrix Reloaded. I liked it okay, but being a DIE-HARD fan of the first one, the second one just didn't live up to the first. |

Daredevil was 'entertaining' but I was never a die-hard DD fan. I didn't like Michael Clark Duncan as Kingpin and their fight scene was too short.
Kingpin was another pivotal character as everybody was against him. Spidey, DD, Punisher, Captain America... Next year we've got: Ghost Rider, Spider-Man II, Man-Thing, Deathlok, Fantastic Four, Iron Fist to name a few out of 8 I think. Ghost Rider if done well may be a suprise megahit. Fantastic Four has to be done exactly like the book or it'll fuck up the entire franchise. FF is unique because it's about 'family' with super powers and has lots of great subplots. If FF does well they can introduce the 'Galactus Trilogy' thus bringing in The Silver Surfer. Expect a ton of super hero movies to be rushed into production if the Hulk does $200mill. I doubt it will reach $200mill until maybe late summer. Terminator 3 is due next week and if that rocks then it'll crush Hulk's return traffic. Besides, the coolest movie this summer is 'Finding Nemo' and it's still very strong at the box office. It may wind up making over $300mill before the end of summer. I would really like to see a 'Captain America' movie cause Cap would kick ass from the beginning of a comic book to the end of the comic book. Besides the two coolest villains were The Red Skull and Dr. Doom. The Marvel villains alone are worth going to see if done right. Whoever gets the parts of Dr. Doom or The Red Skull will make history. |

well, i'll be the first to say...
i fucking loved it, probably gonna go see it again soon. the "slow" beginning part was fine with me, cause i knew it was all in preparation for the badass parts... it was a climax, i knew he was gonna be busting out but they put it off for awhile, but when he did, when he fought the dogs and shit, fuckin a, i was pumped up. i dont think they could have done a better job. its definately worth the $ you get to see a movie w/ some amazing graphics, and a pretty good story line. |

i liked the ending when it got real wierd... The whole father-son relationship could be interpreted in some interesting ways... I don't think this movie would appeal to most people -- not even kids... but you can take these characters out of context as metaphores for human potentialities... there are some cool spiritual references in the movie... just thrown in there between action sequences for more observant people to pick up on.

Eh for example... the father character gains the ability to become his surroundings -- kindof like a super-awareness... then the son struggles with fear the whole movie, the fear the unknown, his origin, his purpose in life, his manhood, etc... essentially the Hulk represents man's struggle with being human... then when he is in battle with his father -- and that's where it gets really abstract visually and conceptually... the father says let go of your fears -- the son is scared but finally yields himself... that's basically Buddhism...

![]() The Hulk is an action character and should be nothing else. The first half of the film was soooo slooow it hurt and why was it slow because they come of with some screwed-up-father-super-being-angst nonsense. The best CG I have ever seen.

I saw him on a Talk Show 2night, Did ya know the reason they changed his alter-ego name from Bruce in the old Hulk to David was because they thought Bruce sounded to GAY!
