What kind of internet connection do you have?
With all these threads about GFY or other boards loading slow I wonder what kind of internet connection does the average GFY user have.
Post how much you pay for it too!

If your a horny old retired perv like me who cruises live sex video rooms all day then it certainly is. But Id think for just building and being a webmaster of adult sites, then no, its not really worth it. BUT with a T1, if your starting a paysite and you dont want to do hosting, a T1 can support a good amount of users at one time. |

Cable...... $39.95/Mo... set up through a home server to distribute the connection throughout the house via a hub and a wireless router. All desktops in the house are wired to the network, laptops and pda connect to the wireless router.

I have used cable for 4 years now and speed has never been an issue. My only real limitations on speed have come from the servers I am trying to download from. At $39.95 month.... there is no better value in Las Vegas. ![]()

DSL at 1Mb/sec.
Not sure what I pay, but I think its $49.95/mo, plus I keep an old dialup account for backup at $21.95/mo. Plus there is a coffee/sandwich internet cafe shop nearby where you can plug in as a 3rd backup. Plus a Kinko's with highspeed access as a 4th backup.

I have cable, $39.95 a month. I love it...usually. Last night and today though the thing has been up and down like Oprah's weight problem. I haven't gotten fuck-all accomplished. I was going to use my time wisely this morning and finish up an anal hardcore AVS site since my daughter was out of the house and I could actually -- gasp! -- work in the daytime. But my connection bounced on and off until I just gave up and went back to bed.

a) Cox cable starts at $49.99 a month, and I pay $59.99 because I refuse to use their bloated priced cable TV. b) Goes down every other day sometimes for 8+ hours c) only recently got fast with the new "change over" last month. 14KB/Sec upload is not fast.

No... I don't work for COX. I am only answering a question that was asked by another Las Vegan. Since my experience with cable has been positive... I passed that on. I re-checked the price, it is $39.99 a month, I did type $39.95... I was off by 4 cents, no misinformation intended. I do have cable TV service and I own my modem, so it is less than 40 bucks a month. Your problems with the cable may be related to your area??? I have never had problems with the cable speed. 14KB/sec upload? I have never experienced that. For what you are paying a month, I'd be pissed off too.
