When he fell onto his stool instead of sitting on it, I knew they were going to stop the fight. This was truly a Don King production, and yes, Lennox was about to get KTFO. If they didn't stop the fight when the eye was bleeding, there was no reason to stop it after the cut was under control.

It was under control? When did the ring doctor actually stop the fight? Did they call time to have it looked at during a round, or was it called in between rounds? If it wasn't bleeding at the time, the ring doctor wouldn't have called it, unless it was so deep and close to the eye socket that it presented inevitable danger to his eye itself.

I'll have to watch the repeat. The way everyone is carrying on, you'd swear it was armed robbery. It's clear in the still shots that the white guy was physically looking worse for wear.

You guys may be too young to remember, but it used to be that all title fights were 15 rounds. You did not see that many go to the scorecards back then. Or at least everyone knew who won after 15, there was rarely any surprises.

On the other hand, I think the doc was completely right in stopping the fight. It would have been sad if Klitschko would have ended up like Frank Bruno (almost blind on the left side after Tyson and had to give up fighting). No matter if the cut was under control or he was winning on the score card. Lewis has some awesome punches, and he would have kept hammering the cut as long as he was standing, and that could have been ugly!

Good fight. The ref was right to stop it. I couldn't help but think when watching it just how much i've been spoiled by growing up in the Ali era. After Ali, everything else pales by comparison.

and that was probably klitcko's last good fight all his future opponents will go after his eye, morally he won before the fight even started and that's only because every one loves a winner-for a while - then they want to tear him down no matter how good he is.If Lewis had lost weight and looked at peak form , I bet people would have given him more respect

Lewis came into the fight the heaviest he has ever fought in his career. He also had not fought for about a full year, since destroying Mike Tyson. The guy he was supposed to fight got injured, and he was given Klitschko on very short notice. If there was ever a formula for an upset, this was it - and Lewis still found a way to win.

I am not a big Lewis fan. I feel he spent too much time in his career not fighting thr top fighters (never fought Bowe when Bowe was on top, waited about ten fucking years to fight Tyson, etc etc), but he is the cream of the crop right now. If he were to have a rematch with this guy, I have no doubt he would take him apart. Will he give him a rematch? Dont bet on it. He'll do what he can to get a last huge payday by kicking Tyson's ass again, or maybe Roy Jones Jr will be insane (or greedy) enough to fight Lewis for huge money.

That was a very nasty cut over the eye that could easily have stopped the fight from the 3rd round on. Once the swelling started, and he go that other cut below the eye as well, I was really not surprised. If this was a regular non-title fight, it would have been stopped much much sooner.

Lennox ws the top challenger for Bowe for ages, when he was finally to get his shot Bowe quit! Lennox has been the top heavyweight fighter for how long? 4 years or so right?
When the hell was he supposed to fight Tyson? Tyson went finally nuts just before Lennox got on top. When were they supposed to fight, after Tyson had served his ban after eating Holyfields ear? Or maybe when he was in jail (the second time), Tyson couldn't fight him with no fights on his back for ages, so he had to fight a bunch of losers for a year and a half befor he was ready for Lennox, and I have not seen Tyson as fit as he was against Lennox since his early days. There's no doubt in my mind that Lennox at his peak would have taken Tyson at his peak, the man has the best jab in heavyweight since Ali, and the knock out power of Foreman, he's much taller than Tyson, and got the arms of a gorilla. He's almost the perfect heavyweight fighter (bad chin)

IMO both fighters at ther peak Tyson would have knocked his ass out! Prime Tyson was an unstopable psychotic ass kicking hammer! That has never been said about Lewis nor has he ever fought anyone with that reputation. Lewis has been the best heavyweight for the past 5 years but thats not saying much, as the competition he's faced is shit. After last nights effort I'm not sure Tyson could'nt take him now with some serious training and effort. Just my opinion.

As far as Lewis being in the top 5, maybe in one of his wet dreams. The worst glass jaw, and as agressive as a mouse. If he didn't have such long arms to jab with, Holyfield (as old as he was at the time of their last fight) would have knocked his ass out. Lewis would have been out-boxed and out-smarted by Holyfield in his prime. Poor guy has a massive heart, but can't complete a sentence now.

Glass jaw my ass, have you seen the sise of the guys in the heavyweight divison? Name me 2 heavyweight fighters that you would put in the top ten of all times, and have never been knocked out! If the right ammount of force is used to punch on the right spots on the head, anyone will be knocked out!
Lennox Lewis is probably the smartest fighter I've seen (along side Ali) when it comes to boxing, I've never seen him stragetically loose a fight, sure he's been caught out like last night, but he normally comes back. Exept of course the two fights he lost. Regarding boxing is fixed, I have to agree with that on some levels, like the Lewis vs. Holyfield 1 :)
