Your biological mother whom you have only spoken to once in your life contacted you and wanted to come visit with you and your children. I have let all the things that happened that resulted in my being adopted just kind of die but she never would tell me the truth surrounding what happened. That is the only thing that I have an issue with. Would you refuse until she finally gave you the whole story or just let something that happened over 30 years ago rest in peace and meet her and see if you can have some sort of relationship? Just something that's weighing on my mind as i'm supposed to meet her in mid August and i'm not sure how I feel about it. Nobody to really discuss it with as my adoptive family is dead set against me having any contact with her because of the hard feelings. And I don't feel like giving a shrink several thousand dollars to ask me "How do you feel about it"

do *YOU* want to see her or not? we can't make that decision for you. if you're the type of person who can look past that, forgive and start anew then you'll meet. if you aren't then you won't. you know yourself better then anyone here knows you

Boy, I shouldn't respond to this cuz I've had a few drinks but I can tell you my view because I was adopted and I met my birth mother about 8-9 years ago.

DO NOT let her come to your house. Meet her at a central location. DO NOT let her near your kids either if they're small. If you've only met her once, you have no idea what you might be dealing with.

Go see her and be open minded in letting her tell you her side of the story. You never know if she's so mentally fucked up that she might be a "needy" person and try to loaf off you.

My birth mother was and is still a big heroin addict. I really am glad I met her and she's totally beautiful and friendly. BUT, she has alot of issues and is very clingy. I have my own problems, so I try to keep a distace ESPECIALLY because I have kids. My parents did not support me having anything to do with her either which made it tough.

Keep a good consistant friendly thing going though because ya never know if someones gonna need a kidney someday..
