since the tree falling will only produce sound waves.... sound waves that will be TRANSFORMED by the ear (like a converter) therefore without that converter(the ear), no sound (as we know them) will be produced!

The middle ear's job is to mechanically transform sound waves and send the signals on to the inner ear (cochlea) where auditory sensory cells are located. From the cochlea, sound information is transmitted to the auditory nerve and on up to the brain" " These electrical impulses are transmitted by the hearing (auditory) nerve and up to the brain where they are interpreted as sound" |

sound = waves
the waves are still there, hence it makes a sound, there's just nobody to hear it.

It does make a sound, the animals and insects in the forest hear it and if they are not there then its not a real forest and therefore the whole question is flawed!
