Good place to learn about the stock market/trading...

In my economics class during high school we had to PLAY the stock market. We were "given" $100,000 to play with. At the time, I was stupid and didn't believe in stocks. Didn't really care about the class, so my stocks bombed and I lost $30,000. Somehow I managed to still pass the class, haha.

A little older, I am now finding some interest in the stock market. I need a good hobby, trading seems like a great one. I'm not looking for any lectures on wasting my money, I'm not planning on investing until I know and understand the market much better than what I do.

Would like to start reading about the market; any articles, books, online training courses, anything would be appreciated. Was checking out Amazon yesterday and there seems to be a fair number of books worth reading.

I know some of you guys dabble and even others hit the market pretty hard. Any advice or links would be appreciated. Day trading or swing trading would probably be best.

Thanks in advance...

They both look like good reads, the readers reviews at Amazon are great. I'll be ordering them later today, thanks for the tip.

Earlier today I found fool.com, seems like a great place to learn about the market. I've already learned quite a bit from the site, just by reading one article.

Fool site is a good place to get tips - Quicken's site has some good stock evaluators - you can see how a stock rates using the Fool strategy or Warren Buffet's etc (click score card). I've been buying mostly what I know: Adobe, eBay, Macromedia, Ask Jeeves
etc. Some are up 30 percent in the last month or two(MACR), Adobe hasn't fared so well but there is a big demand for Acrobat and it will probably do well long term - just a guess. Another that is doing well for me is Cubic corp (CUB).
