Crack effects the saratonin production in the brain...The same but to a lesser degree as coke.

What this does is it causes the brain to release large doses of saratonin only when a hit is taken, therefor the user is dealing with a mental addiction that is far harder to break then the standard addiction as it causes chemical and physical effects.

We only produce so much of this drug, when its gone its gone and so is your pleasure.

I'm not even talking about the fact that people joke about it as the glass dick, the stem fast diet or its effect on your teeth.

We wont go into what the user will do for the drug, sex, stealing from family any good treatment center is going to go for sex counceling as well, if she's been using for any length of time chance's are very good that she is enganging in "dangerious" sexual behavior. (I know such a weird subject to bring up here)

We wont talk about the damage it does to the heart and lungs.
We wont mention that this shit alters the way your brain works...much more so with meth though especialy paranoia meth was invented by nazi germany as a combat drug, we (the US) invented benzodrine(sp???!??) similar but I know less about it.

The paranoia from not sleeping immagine being up for 11 days..we wont talk about what the "meth monster is in your vision chasing you"

SHE IS DAMAGED BEYOND WHAT YOU CAN HELP

YOU NEED PROFESSIONAL HELP FOR THIS...

Do not stop do not pass go do not collect 200$ put her in a treatment program NOW....

Your other choice is her death...

Oh yea I forgot to mention this is a FAMILY problem you will all have to deal with this together. She needs you to get through this. She might not say it, but trust me she will.

What's the drug they gave airforce pilots for reaction time? That's where the phrase "It's Go time!" comes from I think...

that kind of drug addiction is more than serious. I try to be always optimistic, but I know many people that have been in your friend's daughter position and now they are not alive.

as katdream said,put her in a treatment program ASAP and support as much as possible. If she will stay outside a treatment program at this point it.....you can imagine :(

i did shitloads of meth when i was a kid :(

and i quit by myself...cause i was almost died!!

but if the girl is in denial, send her to rehab!!!!!

Wow - hits close to home. Probably the only serious post I'll ever make on GFY.

From personal experience I can tell you that institutionalizing someone who doesn't see they have a problem does absolutely nothing. I completed two years without honestly believing that what I was doing was killing me.

The biggest change needs to be in the home and in the activities of the girl. Some type of distance needs to be built and people need to mediate everything. Consider it like a boot camp for rebuilding life after something as devastating as drug addiciton.

One thing that honestly helped me, keep in mind I'm not a psych. or doctor of any kind, is the fact that there were other people who were effected in my life as a result of my drug use. I honestly didn't clean up for myself - not at first. It was for my mom. This girl most likely has a weak realtionship with her parents (just a guess, I could be wrong) and needs to realize that it hurts them very very much to see her attempt a slow suicide.

Maybe she doesnt think she has anything in her life, maybe she doesnt feel a sense of self worth - maybe she doesn't want to live. Again, I could be wrong but this is just a personal experience. All the intensive outpatient sessions in the world meant absolutely shit - it's the fact that my parents would cry at my funeral if I didnt stop that did it.

If relocating her for a while with family isn't an option then I suggest strict supervision - questioning everything. She'll hate them for it but if it works then it's all worth it.

This is about all I can suggest honestly - I wouldn't want to give you complete off the wall advice for something as delicate as this because it's really a case by case basis in my opinion. Find something she values or wishes she valued and bring it to her attention. Let her know that she matters and her life matters - if not to her then to her family.
