Never had yellow water. I've had cloudy water and green water though. Since it is a new tank, it just may be a bacteria bloom, which goes away after a while.
If not, the best thing for making the water clear is to get a UV light. Problem is that it isn't worth it on a 10 gal tank, the UV's cost about $150 to $200. It will make your water look as clear as the fish store's water. |

It's called new tank syndrome. It will clear up by itself in a few days. Do a few *small* water changes and ease up on the food until it settles down. I'm too lazy to explain all the details about it but it is normal for a new tank to do this. Do a search for new tank syndrome on Google.

Sounds like your filter. What kind do you run? Check the carbon bag. How long did you run it before adding fish? Also, test your water. make sure your nitrate levels are ok

listen to twistyneck. that's the right answer. I would do 20% water changes every day till it clears up. the only thing he left out is fish population and filtration. make sure you have proper filtration on this tank (ie more than just a bubbler, there should be charcoal somewhere and something to filter out floating particles) and also make sure your fish are within the 1 inch per gallon rule, especially on a new tank or you could have sudden death due to ammonia buildup. and don't overfeed!! Only feed what the fish can eat in 2 minutes, only once a day till this clears up. good luck!

You may lose a couple of fish during this time so don't panic if you end up with a couple of floaters. Don't add any fish until this clears up and then wait a couple of weeks after that. |

Either move the tank out of the bathroom or explain to the kids that they still have to use the toilet and not the tank.

Hey,
Thats a comon effect of newly set up tanks that are over loded. Its AMONIA build up. When a tank is first set up it has to be cycled with minimum of live stock, or amonia will quickly rise and kill evrything. What you do when setting up a new filtred tank is: add one fish every 2 weeks till your tank is well stocked. The first month is very important. Aslo during this time, feed very lightly, make sure no food falls to the ground. Do a search on, aquarium cycling <--not sure of spelling. good luck

Very Simple solution. Take a water sample to any aquarium store or even a pet smart. Let them do a free water test for you and tell ya what to do
![]() Then when the hook you you'll be up to a 100+ gallon salt tank in no time! AND what Ray said ^ but still go talk to somone

![]() the first month is very importent, if you feed to much during the first weeks your fish will die, and get a bigger tank.....

you should do 25% water changes every week,,
once a month isn't gonna be enough to keep healthy fish, it takes like a month for a new tank to "Cycle" what cycling is when bacteria forms and eats up all the ammonia and nitrites. basically fish shit. its best to only have like 5 fish to start cycling your tank with a 10 gallon because chances are that they will die while the tank goes thru the proccess. Test the water for proper PH and make sure your ammonia and nitrites is 0, most pet stores will test your water for free |
