I have heard that there are now products available (or in development) that take a standard 35mm film canister form-factor, and replace it with a digital sensor. The idea is a digital device that can be used in place of film to make a 35mm camera into a digital camera.

Has anyone else heard of this? It sounds like it could be an incredibly cool development.

I would so be all about that if something like this were developed... *drool* I would LOVE to use my 35 mm as a digital.

I threw my 35 mm camera away about 4 years ago.

I think you're talking about digital backs, and they've been in use for awhile. I think traditional photographers use these since they dont want to give up their camera bodies that they're used to. Leaf makes a lot of these

They developed it...but it didn't work out for them.

The resolution and storage capacity were crap.

Thanks. This is some very educational reading, and sound exactly like what I heard about.

I think it could have been a good idea, to get people to come over from film to digital. After all, I am getting a new EOS 10D, and I am already considering getting another EOS as an "accessory" so I can also shoot film with the same equipment.
