CNN Story: Penalties For Virus Creators

    http://edition.cnn.com/2003/TECH/int....ap/index.html

This is a nice recap on the penalties received by the biggest virus creators. Even though arrested only a pittance have done real time. Of interest is the estimated financial damage. I think the # is too low.

In addition, on Nov. 1st new sentencing guidelines go into effect to add harsher penalties. Whatta you think?

Thats why you could never really use a virus to your own financial advantage: ultimately it is connected to you in some way.

Even If you are only stroking your own ego and capturing stats, you'll get nailed that way.

Yep! The fact they nailed these guys is a tribute to good detective work.

Problem is look at all the virus wannabees out there who know IF they get caught they'll get a slap on the wrist. So all they gotta do is go to a country where there ain't no laws against it and do damage and then come back to civilization.

On the other hand, the civil lawsuits should scare the bejeezus outta these guys.
