Not to boast but what see taken there by FTV are not airbrushed. Not even color enhanced.

YES, its about the quality of the photography ... this is the way it should be.

Just using a 35 mm Nikon F4, with kodak portra VC film, and the ability to use natural light and some tungsten in the right manner.

They are placed on photo CD after processing negatives by our local photo lab.

It gives great results... pics look good.. but I think that you could get just as good pics out of a D100 or Canon 10D and save a bundle of money.

Hey Dax, you are right.. I have been thinking for a long time to move to a High End Nikon digital that will allow my Nikor D lenses to be used. But amongst the hardcore 35mm users, they tell me that the problem of hotspots/contrast is still an issue, and film (like Kodak Portra) gives the desired texture without the need to go airbrush or color enhance like you would with a digital image.

$4000 for a digital camera is a big expense, and is the only reason why I am holding back.

It's only a problem for people who don't know what they are doing. Digital is a different animal than film and takes a bit of getting used to. Your camera will need to be fine-tuned as you can control just about every aspect of the image in the camera: contrast, saturation, hue, sharpening, gamma, white balance and much much more. If you take the time to test with your digital camera and fine tune all of these things, you should have no problem. "Testing" is key to making a smooth transition from film to digital. Buy a camera and test with it for a few weeks before making the final transition. Shoot your film but shoot a set of digital pics at the end of each session. It won't take long to get it fine tuned to the point that your happy with it.
