My hubby asked me to marry him while we were in bed right after having sex, on our third date...altho, in his defense, I'd known him for four years by that point as friends.

That was pretty nice as far as I'm concerned, tho it's not really a romantic story to tell the grandkids someday.

My girlfriend new that I would be proposing her, we went out to buy the rings... but the proposal was January 1st at 1:00AM, just after drinking some champagne at the beach and watching the fireworks. It was at the Flat room where I was hosted, I proposed it to her in front of her mother and sister. It was a surprise for them.

My marriage will be in 2 weeks

my friend's husband got a suite at the bonaventure, had the ultimate dinner catered with waiter, and had the ring delivered with desert in the box on a silver tray. when she opened the box, he did the down on one knee thing.

my bf simply asked, and that was great for me. i never understood the need for two people who should know each other really well to impress each other that way.

Now fantasy propsals..hmmmmm.... I think it would have to be public and unexpected. And Not a MEGA-SCREEN at a game or something silly like that...but like a party with all your friends, celebrating something completely un-related to what you are going to do.

But that is just my opinion

My husband (who was in the Navy at this time) was sent to Turkey on a three-month deployment back in July of 2000. Naturally, it was the longest three months of my life, and when he got Home, he brought me a couple of presents. Both were picked up in Shannon Ireland while the plane was being refueled and checked.

When he walked into the hangar, he turned me around and told me to move my hair out of the way. Then he put a silver necklace with a claddaugh pendant on it around my neck. To this day, I've only removed it thrice, and that was to change out the necklaces..for some reason, I'm really allergic to metal around my neck.

A few days later, we were at a local pub where I was shooting pool for a league. We went out to get some fresh air and I was staring up at the moon when he walked up and put his arms around me. He had had a few Killian's and was obviously feeling pretty good and the first thing he said was, "I swear this isn't the alcohol talking...."

The other gift from Ireland was a silver claddaugh ring, with the heart set with the truest green I've ever seen in an emerald. (I'm not big on diamonds) I wore it as my engagement ring, and now I wear it as my wedding band.

That sounds really sweet! My husband was so nervous at our wedding -- we got married at the JP's office -- that the judge who was marrying us made him sit down and put his head between his knees for a minute because the old guy thought Sean was going to pass out. The cutest thing though was my daughter (she's my ex-husband's daughter, BTW) -- she was standing on the other side of me holding my hand during the ceremony, and she kept shaking my hand hard to get my attention, and then she'd whisper really loudly: "Are we married yet?"
