Tools > Internet options > Vaporware > disable popups and popunders.

There is no such thing as Vaporware in the internet options

okok enough clowning.. it's not possible to disable
popups in IE.. you need an add on application.. a popup killer..

check download.com or download opera/mozilla.. those
browsers do have popup killing default included.

Ads Gone is a good program

but with any there are some annoyances at times.

tools>internet options
click security tab
click custom button
scroll down to scripting
under active scripting click "disable"

This will disable most if not all popups...
also sometimes interferes with easy surfing.
