Manilaheat, I started this thread cuz I am truly interested in your services. Please explain away (hopefully with input from your legal staff). I can provided decent work volume, I just don't want to be left high and dry. Also, please address the productivity issue that was raised.

Even if we were to explain what we are doing is legal, you would resort to flaming our customers anyway and calling the country that we live in a toilet bowl.

Now if that isn't racist, I don't know what is.

If you were to read previous threads you would find out that we have 4 lawyers that sit on our board of directors. Our company business plan is well thought out and competely legal.

In fact, there are no laws even pertaining to online pornography on the books here.

But it is no use arguing with you. You would rather give English class and insult.

One last point, any one that is in the porn business and think that they don't have legal issues is mistaken.. In any jurisdiction to say the least...

I hope you're being rhetorical cause I have said no such thing.

Infact, I said you should be backing up the fact that you are legal... implying that I believe that you are.

But instead you get into a piss fight. Real professional.

Oh well, I guess you can afford to just flush potential business down the toilet.

Well put!

Mr. Marks 06-03-2003 04:52 PM

And another thing... pls don't use the race card. Nobody is putting down the Philippines or Filipinos, the issue is will the Filipino legal system leave your (and quite directly if I become a customer--MY) business alone.

Sir,

You are right, I was very unprofessional.

We are a company that looks out after our customers.

When you start flaming and threatening our customers, I take PERSONAL offense to this.

When someone calling the people that live in this country inferior, I take PERSONAL offense to this.

This is why I got into a pissing fight.

Further, it makes American's look like idiots when they are so blind to the rest of the world and what it has to offer (and don't take offense to that because I am an American).

So MaskedMan, sorry for the piss fight, I hope that you can over look it.

And English was never my strong point in College ...

apology accepted manilaheat.

Takes a lot to come forward and make a post like that. Thank you.

The thread started out rocky and has ended well (so far) so hopefully it's the ending that people remember when they go on to the next thread.

:thumbsup

Mr. Marks 06-03-2003 05:08 PM

1st Point - The legal system.

I am not a lawyer, but I will be more than happy to send you documentation on the matter. The bottom line is that content production, like many states in the US, is illegal. It is illegal to film or photograph pornographic images. This is legislation set back from the Video Tape era.

The posession or pornography is not illegal here.

There are no laws on the books, or in the process of being passed that pertain the digital transmission or manulation of pornography on computers.

Like India, the Philippines used to be controlled mainly by a consortum of businessman that dominated everything, but the Internet has changed that. Next to India, the Philippines is second in outsourcing and call centers. Infact, in additional to the above companies, AOL and Linksys employ thousands of people in Manila.

Our company has been around for over a year. Maybe not formally with a web site, but we have been doing work for webmasters for that time period.

2. Communication

All webmasters are COLLEGE EDUCATED. The schools here are taught in ENGLISH from High School on. You will not have any problems communicating with our webmasters. They type and speak English well enough to even communicate with someone whose second language is English.

3. Productivity

It is hard to explain the productivity, but I have seen front end tours, banners, TGP galleries designed and submitted faster than anyone else on the net. It really is amazing, but our workers really love working with this stuff and with westerners. Some of our clients only have to check in with their webmaster once a week sometimes. Other clients have their webmaster competely running some of their websites.

The best thing, if you are still on the fence, is to talk to some of the clients that we do work for.

I can send you a list if you like.

Mr. Marks 06-03-2003 05:13 PM

Thanks, Manilaheat. I appreciate your feedback, I'll ICQ you and request some info soon. I appreciate your time.

Send your feedback cuz Im interested in using this service.

Hey man, I understand the level of caution, but what I will tell you is we use them, the service is excellent, and although many may think this is "Some new thing" they are wrong, we've been using them for a long time now, we have over 13 guys (mixed programmers, toons, flash designers, etc.) on our team and Im extremely happy with the level of performance.

It seems your not just concerned about the legal aspect, but your worried about the "What if", and "How come", and "But.but.but." Knock it of and give it a shot, it's not a multi-million dollar expense by any means, and it's certainly not going to have you sent off with a new pair of silver braclets.

You don't know unless you try something, and 90% of what your seeing in the post/response as well are nothing but opinions, opinions are like assholes everyone has one. Don't go by everyone else's give it a shot, get some balls, than at the end you'll either dig it or you won't, and best of all than you'll have your very own "Opinion".

Give it a shot bro :)

Frank W 06-03-2003 06:52 PM

Why don't the people worried about the legality of this just ask the Philippines' National Bureau of Investigations what the law is on porn outsourcing and call it a day? Ask what kind of clearances are needed and which agencies handle this. You can even ask them to analyze existing outsourcers' services and see if this complies with local law.

There are affordable lawyers there Im sure that are connected to the prosecutor's office that can give a more definitive answer than the bullshit opinions and evasions that are in this thread. Half the people are skeptical the other half are clients. Go straight to the source.

There's a reason porn is not easily outsourced (unless its content production in Eastern Europe) -- legality and quality. Since the point of this thread is the former, do research on the people in charge of enforcing obscenity laws in the Philippines. The latter issue is easier to deal with.

Also, you may need to ask your accountant about the tax consequences and paperwork requirements involved in outsourcing.

I understand the legal concerns because, on a related note, I've looked into buying content from parts of Asia and its not clear cut... so I steer clear of content buys/production unless of course, its Hustler cuz Hustler can back itself up when legally challenged.

Just my two cents.

My only guess is that the U.S. paid for you and your family to live, and you had some issues.

Good luck!
