I can't believe there is a post about ARS/Global's members areas. You get paid per signup and not recurring!
Have you been in Adult Movie Station lately? Holy shit!! They have everything under the sun plus about every licensable DVD, users can either stream or download clips from each DVD. And look at the picture section < it's massive. I know for a fact that Global tracks everything including user feedback and really caters to the customer. Why can they do this? Because ARS is busy catering to the webmaster and Global handles the customers. Unlike other programs that try to do both, run affiliate programs and run paysites. Global and ARS can focus on what they do best. If there are better members areas. Post them! :thumbsup |

agreed!! :thumbsup |
I've never been inside of an ARS site, so I can't comment on their sites.
However, thanks to password sites, I've been in hundreds of member's areas and I was very disappointed in what I saw. I remember one that was a cheerleader site, and once inside the member's area all you got where panty feeds the our own Cheerleader feed. That's not a member's area, that's a collection of feeds. No wonder why surfers complain. |

Because if you didn't I'd like you to inform us how you know what their retention numbers are. I've never seen a link anywhere in the ARS webmaster area to check retention figures......and the one time they tried partnership it only lasted a month or so because of the problems ibill was having at the time. (So even if you used the partner program for that one month there's no way the stats you got from that accurately reflect their across the board retention) You probably THINK someone else's site retains way better than an ARS site, but you have absolutely zero proof. |

RocHard, I could get you inside the members section, and then you would see that what you described is far from what you get with the Global sites. Global has really taken it up a couple of notches. :thumbsup See you guys in Montreal, and if anyone wants to have a look at the members area at the show just let me know. :winkwink: |
Lenny2, marc de told us about their retention a couple times, and he has told us that no paysite gets much better retention. do a search on the ars board.
magicmike, i was inside their pornstar site not that long ago, and couldn't even find the pornstars. most were plain old babes, and stuff i've seen around at that. maybe they've updated it, but this wasn't too long ago. there were a couple more sites, but it's been months since i was in them. at the time, they were nothing to brag about. |
and as of may, ars' trial area has most of the good stuff as upsell to the monthly membership - the trial guys can't access it.
why do i care when we get paid per signup? because we're training our more experienced surfers to expect almost nothing when they join a paysite. we're teaching them that no matter what the promo says, you will get only kibbles and bits when you first sign up. and a guy who expects kibbles and bits can get that on tgps and movie posts. if he can't get more by pulling out his credit card, he won't pull it out. by the way, the content WAS there in the pornstar site, but i had to really look for it. |
basschick - MY POINT EXACTLY!! See the problem is that this model for the last FIVE years has been 'training' the consumers that they can get something for nothing. I'm not bashing TGPs here, I'm talking about giving the member the ENTIRE members area for a lousy $3 or even less. That is ABSURD! So yeah, is Global trying to 'retrain' the surfers that they might actually have to spend some money (you know its from paysites down that this industry works so paysites HAVE to keep making it so everybody else can get a piece too).
Of course, you can look at it as negative that they can't get everything they want for nothing anymore but then again we can watch a business model that continues to deteriorate and produce less and less money per sign up (which again rolls DOWN hill). |

i think its a step in the right direction and all sites with trials should do the same. |

Look guys if you figure out the average cost to a member for a monthly paid subscription, it's only about $1 to $1.30 per day. A burger, fries and a drink meal at McDonalds costs 4 times that now.
Been to a magazine store lately? Adult print magazines are up to $7.99 and higher and you get mostly phone sex ads and 3 to 6 photo sets with at most 10 pics of each girl. So you get way more content from online adult entertainment then you do from traditional porn. In all the years, I've been doing this, I've never had a single e-mail complaining about the content in anything I've done or promoted of others. So I would think 99.99% of surfers can get off with something in most every program's members area. And besides jerking off via virtual sex is still damn cheaper than taking out a girl on a date. So the cost per orgasm from online entertainment is still the best deal available for a guy. |

When the surfer joins one of my sites , they also get inside access to all sites. :) |
I review paysites for Carnalia.com and have seen hundreds of membership areas. Personally I think that ARS's membership areas are pathetic -- they're extremely generic and do a poor job of staying on-niche. That said, ARS pays per-signup, so rebills should NOT be an issue for partners who are simply seeking to earn some cash. The lackluster content should only be an issue if (like me) you're seeking to refer surfers to quality sites.
BTW, I noticed a LOT of GFY newbies piping-up in support of ARS. I hope these were not ARS employees :2 cents: |

Wow, I'm glad you cleared that up because earlier you said that if they weren't happy with the members area they'd never join another porn site again, and that member's areas like ARS's were costing us all money because the surfer would be afraid to buy anything else. |
