As I recall the economy was doing rather well until he threw his hat in the ring for the Presidency...and began talking down the economy and talking up the tax cuts...but you are right...no President can legitimately be entirely blamed for the economy. And the NASDAQ crashed in March '01, yeah, but the broad economy didn't decline much at all. Even after September 11th, it didn't really, though people for some reason blame everything on that. If you look at the DOW chart, it goes right back up to its pre-september 11th levels about a month later. To think that our government would never allow such a thing to happen is to say that other governments sat back and said ..ya bring it on baby without any reasoning. I am aware that other countries in history have had to recall their currency and issue new currency...and theoretically it could eventually happen to the US...but I doubt that it will.
