Huh???

Coleman, Couture, Ortiz, Frye, hell, even dan severn has won a few matches and none of them are submission experts.

If your talking ufc, wrestling is the first thing you should learn otherwise you'll spend entire match's on your back and you'll notice the wrestlers mentioned above dont get submitted with an armbar from guard too often.

But i trained in bjj before moving here and i love it. great exercise. Also trained in muay thai which was alot of fun cause i like getting punched. Weeeeeeeeeeee

Add aikido to that list. Although it takes around 15 years to regular training until it become useful. I've only just started.

Fuck, i can learn to fly in 15 years.

That doesn't mean shit. A lot of the aikido moves were banned in the ring, because they were too powerful (i.e. involved dropping people on their heads, etc.)

Furthermore, all of the "aikido masters" were no-name 2nd and 3rd dan show ponies. Not all martial arts like showing off for commercial events.

Ya, thats what all the ninja's said to. Too bad, ninja's rule!

Where did you get your bullshit from? Aikido has no real world basis in a fight. Go watch more Steven Segal movies bud.

What is the first thing they teach you in Aikido? UKEMI. The art of falling. Better translation, the art of falling to make your opponent throwing you look really fucking good.

Aikido. I wasted 2 years of my life with it.

All of those fighters you just named all cross train now. It's a new sport. Maybe you've heard of it. It's called NHB/MMA.

Wresting as their base, BJJ, MT, and boxing as well as others to round it out.

No one trains in one style anymore.

Was stabbed in the ass by my girlfriend with a cheap samurai sword once. Nothing like getting stitches in your ass.

Not really. They dont knock people out and they dont submit people. They train submission so they can avoid them.

Getting shot does not make you hard....If you live and are not crippled by it then it makes you lucky.

I'm not hard, and don't try to be. I'm curious about the battle scars of the self-proclaimed hard mother fuckers here at GFY. Don't get it twisted.

I almost got shot with an arrow once...

An AR15 doesn't sound like an AK47. 5.56 is a pop gun compared to 7.62. From either end you definetly know the difference.

Oh I read your post again... maybe you're talking about a 7.62 AR15 (If there is such a thing).

This is completely wrong. Most forms of Kung Fu are practical. Try some Wing Chun, or Hung Gar. These aren't created for show... in fact, if they were, they'd be pretty boring to watch.

I've never heard of a Krav Maga guy doing anything with it. As far as Karatekas doing ok in streetfighting, that's imho just because they're in shape. I have NEVER seen a TKD, Kempo, Kung Fu etc guy keep his form in a real fight, they're forced to become brawlers every time. No technique, just wild swinging and shitty grappling.

I've seen it plenty of times. The word Kung Fu is extremely broad, and encompasses all Chinese martial arts, from Hung Gar to Southern Mantis to Tai Chi. They all have their benefits and weaknesses, but Southern Mantis, for instance, doesn't require rigid forms and is extremely practical.

And don't say Bruce Lee, who was trained in Wing Chun, couldn't fight, even before he took on American boxing.

Having said all that, I think a lot of the traditional martial arts are too rigid in their adherence to tradition, and lose a lot of the practicality as a result.

hmmmm I been shot at several time in the woods during hunting season (no sneaking around without the orange..lol)

I was in a shoot out between a house full of pissed off mexicans and my white boy boyrfriend at the time...bullets whizzing everywhere..completely dark out.. b/f got shot in the ass cheek..went thru one cheek lodged in the other (too bad it missed his balls)..was a wild evening.

I worked in this shitty little money pit in florida run by "OUTLAWS". Plenty of stabbing and shootings went on in this place..in fact several of the bouncers are serving prison time for murder. The girls werent much better.. crazy ass fights would break out in the back..doors locked and jammed..and hot curling irons shoved down throats.

I stabbed my husband once for threatening to smash my computers up with a hammer .

i have been in so many fist fights, i dont have the patience to write them all..I have only had my ass beat a few of those times and they were by "big men"..with "big attitudes"..i didnt go down without a good fight though.

I'd say so. It's an art that's used for combat. Fits the definition.

oh ya crap I've been stabbed too! by my brother in my arm with a swiss army knife. He was 8, I was 15. I wanted to take the knife away from him since the little brat could cut himself, but no he had to resist and attacked me. Sure I watched movies and seen how it's done so I was sure he'll drop it in seconds. No such luck, the little bastard stabbed me. No big deal tho, maybe a glass of blood on the floor (enough to freak out my parents), but a bandage fixed it. Eh, my little brother. :)

Wow, another person who doesn't know what they are talking about. Those people are known for Ground and Pound versus submission.
