    Has The World Cup Affected Your Traffic?

    With all eyes on the World Cup matches have you seen a dip in your traffic lately? The last World Cup was just after Covid so I did not notice a traffic drop back then but times were quite cuckoo four years ago.

    How about now? It goes on until July...

    What do you do now? Buy ad spots? Double your submission efforts? Or just wait it out until things go back to semi-normal?

    Or is it just me?

      Hard to pinpoint a specific period of time when a lot of people are experiencing an affordability crisis and inflation and layoffs etc...

      Card declines on rebills have been a much bigger existential threat to my business over the last 1-2 years.

      I like the pornhub insights for stuff like this. I would assume less americans are watching every game (other than maybe the USA games), but if pornhub experienced a 50% traffic drop during the superbowl for an hour, the world cup can't be affecting tier 1 traffic that much.

          I agree that Pornhub's analytics are to be taken seriously but the Super Bowl is a singular event, one that cuts into dinner time for most Americans about an hour into the game. With the World Cup there are more teams (thus countries) in this year than ever before so I suspect the effect would be more spread out than just America.

          I wonder if PH has stats on the World Cup - I'm sure they will after it's over.

                      Spain is favored in this year's World Cup! Being in the USA, where our soccer team is a joke, I don't have a horse in this race really. But I am leaning towards Scotland and The Netherlands.

                          I doubt it, especially not if the majority of your adult sales are from the USA. Even though it's being held in the US, are a sizeable percentage of Americans watching Egypt vs New Zealand? And a lot of the non-US audience aren't watching because games are being played when they are in bed.

                                  When it comes to the World Cup and futbol-obsessed fans, adjusting their sleep habits is no big deal. But I get your point.

                                  The other aspect to this year's WC is the rise of gambling and sites like Kalshi. I am not a gambler but it is becoming an epidemic here in the US and Canada with young men. So who knows?
