I went through a rough spot 8 years ago and was strongly considering trading my BMW for a cargo van and outfitting it as a basic camper, and hitting the road. Probably would have been a fun adventure.

This was right across from the RCMP station in downtown Kelowna and a ray of sunshine was draped upon them both though the cloudy sky.

Then it hit me how cool being that fucked up is, and because I have a kid, I can't ever be that fucked up and cool ever again....

I'm in the process of booking a flight back to San Francisco to pack up my belongings again and relinquish my apartment to my landlord for rerental, because in April I YOLO moved to Michigan to be full time with my long distance girlfriend of 6 months.

Flew out here April 10th to surprise her for her birthday because we weren't expecting me to be able to make it then but things changed, then stayed for a week and decided that the only thing keeping me in California was my desire to be there and that my physical address was there, so fuck it, packed my car with necessities again and my dog and we broke my record of going from San Francisco to Mississippi River in 36 hours (2,000 miles)

Now I live in Southwest Michigan.

I left in 1997.

I left because I found what I was looking for elsewhere. California is still a love of mine. I'll just have to consider traveling when I can there.

I got easy access to flights to SFO anytime, and technically I still have an apartment until October.

I think most people can be happy anywhere if they work at it. I'm trying to figure out where to go next, and through the process realizing that most places are somewhat the same and you can replicate your lifestyle almost anywhere. I've identified that I'm just trying to avoid work/responsibility here and deflecting it to the next city.

Thanks to a starlink dish we can live anywhere we want now no need for a city anymore unless you just want to be in one
