montreal on a budget

in case some of you dont know (under a rock?) there is a big conference this coming week in montreal.

montreal, canada is only about 5 hours from New York City so if youre within driving distance you DEFINITELY should go.

- coming from detroit, montreal is about 8 hours. I-75 from Detroit to the Canadian Hiway 401 will get you right to Montreal.

- dont fuck around at the border. leave all guns, drugs, and attitude at home or they will shut you out. bring your passport and photo id/ and birth certificate if you have them.

- not sure of the club scene or what strip clubs are good in montreal...what would others recommend ?

- if the peel pub is still open they have cheap food and booze
- Peel Pub, 6180 St. Jacques West

that's not the real peel pub. that's the new one they just opened. the real peel pub is on peel/ste-catherine, about 5-10 mins walk from the delta. they also got real, real cheep booze ($1 shooters on Thursday, for example)

actually, I'm gonna be moving literally right up the street from the St Jacques Peel Pub. It'll be on the corner 9 cent chicken wings!

I think The conference will be on the Orange train near the Square Victoria stop: http://www.stcum.qc.ca/English/metro/a-m14.htm
and St Catherine st is on that green line right next to it.

Taxis are everywhere though and easy to get and cheap so I'll be taking those everywhere.

Peel Pub has new management that are trying to clean the place up, so it has lost some of the atmosphere that made it great ;/

However it's still the best place to start Thursdays nights for their wide variety of $1 shooters, lots of which are NOT watered-down surprisingly. Loft also has cheap drinks Thursday (1.25 for beer or certain shots), but has an $8 cover.

For food, anyone not looking for greasy food should checkout Krepa on Crescent, beside Teasers (strip club). My friend just opened it, it serves Krepes, Paninis, Salad, Fries, appetizers and Alcohol and is damn tasty. Many of the strippers from teasers can be found there after their shifts end at 3am.
