Help Opening Outlook

I can't open Outlook on one of my PC's. I've tried from the desktop icon, the programs folder, etc. It just pops up the Outlook copyright info shit that normally launches just before the program opens but, then it stops right there?

Anyone have any ideas? I saw a trick for opening Word on TechTV once where you go to Run and type in "winword" and Word opens up. Is there anything like this for Outlook? Or any other ideas on how to get this fucking program open?

Make sure you Back up your Email Files
.dbx
SO if you have to do something crazy like Format C:
or just put windows back on, you will still have your Mail...

Always check for a Virus.

Scanning for a virus right now. How do I get the e-mail and contact files backed-up up if I can't get the program open or even find it in Windows Exporer?

does it freeze your computer? this recently happened to me when I forgot to check the catch all account for a week - too much mail. I'm not sure if that's your problem but I had to go on the server and backup everything in the /var/mail dir and flush it.

Usually you can install over your existing installation, and not lose your files and settings.

is it outlook or outlook Express?

If its outlook then:

1 - goto start -> search
2 - type *.pst
3 - copy the file(s) it finds to a location where you can find it
4 - its located in "C:\Documents and Settings\supermule\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook" on Windows2000 and XP computers, if you cant find it
5 - Uninstall office (the whole thing)
6 - reboot
7 - Install office again
8 - visit THIS Microsoft update site, and run the auto update
9 - open your office again.
10 - most of the times it finds the PST files on its own, but if it cant, you can import it yourself - you know where you copied it to
11 - if you need to import it again, goto "Files" -> "import-export"

Solution: Get a real e-mail client like TheBat or Pocomail.

have you tryed the "find and fix problems" function ?

1 - open Outlook
2 - goto "help"
3 - There will be a option called something like "find and fix problems" press it, and let it run through you office install
