It's not only the US, it's France and Uk already and will roll out to whole EU. They can't ban all the A tier countries without harming themselves and their paysites are fueled by the tubes and also take a hit.
Fuck all tubes also the small ones,
The more I think about AV the more I like it.
Social media and forums aren't affected, clear signal that the main goal even is to crush the tubes.Comment

I have been assuming that because I run porn sites in the UK I will only need to verify UK customer's ages. But after doing a bit of research it seems I have to verify that all customer's no matter what country they are from are over 18:

That would be too much work. Also I'm not sure if it would work because I'm a resident of the UK and it would be me who was running the sites. I don't think it would make a difference where they are hosted. I'm with Mojo Host and they are based in the US. So I can't get round it that way.Comment

So I am assuming there is not a simple one click free Wordpress plugin available yet to do what needs to be done? How much time will it take before governments start providing options themselves that are easy to implement for webmasters so they can be compliant.
They're quick to make the rules, but small ball webmasters have a hard time figuring it out. So far from what I have seen they only went after the bigger players.Comment

I think I may have got this wrong. Does anyone know for sure? Surely UK age verification laws just cover what anyone in the UK can see. Ofcom have no control or jurisdiction for what people in other countries can see or not see. So as far as I can see I just need to age verify anyone who is in the UK viewing my sites. Not someone from another country.Comment

That might help with civil lawsuits in the US but not from governmental enforcement.
Some of the various state AVS laws allow for private lawsuits, but lawyers dont want to chase off-shore companies with unknown profits. They wont take cases they dont know they will get paid on. And irresponsible parents are not going to pay $500 to $1000 an hour to a law firm to file a lawsuit because little Timmy was jerking off.
Governmental agencies, whether they are State AGs or even local prosecutors or city attorneys have the time and resources to track down and serve anyone anywhere.Comment
