searching for the keyword "sex" on Google shows no adult sites on the top ten spots

Can you explain why?

Sex and the city???

Where is The Hun?

Because sex sites don't have as high of Page rank as others do.

Go read searchengineforums.com for a few hours and you'll understand.

In practical terms that means no XXX sponsored listings or adwords spots on "sex", which is a mixed blessing.

Google gets revenue from pre-paid gallery placements on the top 15 spaces and banners. the rest of the spots are free placements.

No doubt there is filtering of searches going on there, the idea being if someone is searching for sex info, or birth control info or whatever, they don't need to surf through console farms and soforth

noone in their right mind, is going to tell you that the top 30 sites on the search have more rlevance , then say... worldSEX.com or SEX.com

if they do, it's just bs

do a search on sex, then porn, then adult, then xxx you'll see what I mean

google is entitled to do this IMHO, it prevents people like kids, doing a legit search from getting adult sites

Sex.com could come up first for 'sex' in Google and in fact they used to before they went and added all their filtering BS and dynamic pages etc...

If the site was all hardcoded and they only used the single domain sex.com they would be first.

But they don't need to be first in Google for sex - in fact they don't come up in the top 20 for any of the big keywords because they get the most daily type-ins in the adult industry.

Type-in traffic is higher quality than SE traffic - it is the best, and having that dynamic layout converts better I would assume.
