But, thanks for the plug. :) Also, we do not "have the same bandwidth as google", unless you mean we have pipes from some of the same providers as them. I don't want to start any untruths.

Essentially, we're ready to go, just waiting to turn up some upstreams before we go-live. I'm sure some of you have seen our AVN ads and said "wtf" a few times. :)

If anyone needs to get up ASAP, just hit me up and I'll make sure we get you taken care of. I know it sucks to be down. Even if you just need a temporary spot to put your site for a week until you have time to sort things out, hit me up. I'll do that for no charge.

Anyways, thanks for the plug, albeit a bit soon. :) To say I'm excited about this new project is an understatement!

See Phil is humble too :) LOL Ok I just got excited surfing the Equinix website http://www.equinix.com/ so that's why I said that stuff about Google... as far as I know you guys have the boxes in Chicago -- which from my understanding is important because it's centrally located geographically in the USA... I just spoke to Jim a former LikeWhoa employee -- he says he will have some customers over at Equinix also. Everyone I talk to about this place says it's badass... Personally I'm kindof excited to see it hehe...

Hmm you didn't leave any contact information... I'm not sure if this phone # is supposed to be public yet but here goes... 888-318-1539 -- Phil's ICQ is 25285313

Nick has told me that he is improving his upstream relationships and I am confident in his abilities, but this downtime is not good for my business.

No disrespect here, but have you had your coffeee this morning?....Are you thinking with a clear head?
You would actually consider doing business with that piece of shit after what he has pulled?....lie after lie.

I have heard of being loyal but that is ridiculous. If that was my own brother, I would knock the living shit out of him until I was tired.

You're only interested in this from a business standpoint... but I will throw in 2 more cents. Nick may not be a model of human perfection, but I appreciate much of his work. #1 you don't know either of us personally, and I doubt you know how Nick started in this biz -- he is technically very capable.

To give you an idea -- most people do not understand what AdultCentro is yet -- yet I can pick up the technical specifications that were patented -- the specifications that a team of coders were given and understand it perfectly -- this is the stuff that I live for! This is why I like Nick -- reading that specification was like reading an enjoyable book or like looking at a beautiful painting. If you don't enjoy software design, then you probably can't relate -- I've been designing software since I was a little kid playing Spacewars coded in straight assembly.

If you know about coding software -- you know that many programs survive, and even more fail -- the development process is never ending and full of roadblocks and difficult challenges -- some of which are never resolved -- but that is not effort wasted. On the contrary. What doesn't kill us only makes us stronger -- that effort is never wasted energy because you gain experience from the process and you have good code that can be re-used. Look at OS/2 -- IBM is not stupid -- they were resourceful and gambled on OS/2 for the public -- they already used that operating system internally to their operations. They gambled on OS/2 because they could -- yes it failed -- does that mean that IBM is a failure? No. Do you know what company has the most patents in the world? IBM. They incentivize ideas. And Nick encourages and values ideas within his company. I live for ideas, that's why I design software for fun and that's why I'm a professional artist. So I have common interests with Nick. So there's your answer.

A word of advice -- don't make assumptions that all relationships are dictated by money -- there's more to life, so get one.

Next time you take a cheap pot-shot at me and my friends I won't be so nice. Your comments are clearly not well intended.

I'll quote myself so nobody misses this from the first page. Yes, it's probably a good point to ask why I still consider Nick a friend after these unfortunate circumstances. I do not agree with all aspects of his business practices, but I can't say that about anyone, even my close associates. Can you? If you really care why I still think Nick is a cool guy -- then read the above quote.

TheFLY 06-06-2003 05:12 PM

If you're going to ask me why I like such and such webmaster -- that's pretty gay I must say Alex... Is this the gossip that goes around in the girls locker room? :1orglaugh

Wow you actually sound semi intelligent but here is my life and experience with Nick and his fuckin software development you admire so much.

I and another company I would rather not mention at this time each purchased a piece of software from Mr. Nick Tuhkman to the cost of about $20k each...we each gave a deposit of $10k.....This piece of sophisticated software was to be installed and operational within 4 weeks back in April 02....well 8 months go by and I have no software and what modules that were installed had bugs up the ass....

We also hosted with Like Whoa and owned our servers....

It is now fucking June 2003. Fourteen months have past and guess what, still no fucking software. We moved hosting services to XFR (awesome I will say) back in March because we had experienced over 75 hours of downtime from Nov 02 - Feb 02. I have requested my $10k back and servers which totals over $18k so I really could give 2 fucks about Nick and his fucked up ability to think up ideas especially if it is at the expense of others.

So in essence my experience with Nick is dictated by money because he has mine.....

If you want to do business and sit in a pow wow with him and theorize ideas and innovations, good for you. All I want is my fucking money and hardware back. Understand my position now?

Sure.

Sounds like you made an bad business decision, you lost money, now you want revenge... I seriously doubt you can scare Nick into paying you.

You are right about me making a poor business decision but that still doesn't excuse the fact that he ripped me off and who knows how many others. It seems like you are endorsing him like you are proud of him because he has some gift for thinking ideas.

I can tell you for a fact if I had a so called friend who scamed people intentionally, they would no longer be my friend nor would I even consider remotely associate myself with them.

I don't need to scare Nick...Nick is already scared, that is why he isn't here defending himself. Secondly, I'll bet I can get on a plane and find that thief in a matter of days.

Like I said earlier, you can rip off 100,000 people 5 bucks each without much backlash but you can't rip off a few for thousands. Chances are you are going to run into a guy that will seek revenge....Guess what?.....I'm that guy.....

So you go ahead and be friends and associate with him, I'll just make sure I pencil your name right next to Nick's name on who not to do business with. See I won't make the same mistake twice....Will you?

Oh well, tell him to call collect. I'll accept the charges.

That is a good piece of advice and also true....

A matter of fact I'm not even sure how we ended up at XFR...I just know they are solid and I never heard of them before we started hosting with them....Those guys are awesome.
