    Age Verification = Death to your porn site

    I have been on a few sites that have added age verification.

    It seems rubbish.

    I suspect 99% just leave and go to a site that does not have it.

    Those that have it, it is junk.

    One uses your mobile to scan your face. I am sure that it would think some under 18's are adults.

    And often when you go back to a site you have to do the age verification again as they do not store your data.

    I suspect most sites will ignore the age verification to be honest.

    But if your add age verification, I would suspect your profits will drop huge to the point many will just close there website.

    This is my prediction that most sites that add age verification will be closed in a few years.

    I also suspect affiliates will not bother to promote then as they too will end up with zero sales.

          I thought AV, especially in France & England, has or is becoming mandatory. Especially the UK, with fines given to British site owners who do not commit to AV, & banned from UK web search if worldwide.

          I also understand that most sites will oblige with AV schemes & companies providing access to their DB, so not only will surfers be able to sign up & show documents to just one site, logically once accessed, their ID can be & will be repeated on all the sites signed up to one of these AV companies.

          Besides if this AV business does become mandatory, logically it would help sales, with the understanding, if free sites have to use AV, then paying for porn seems a worthwhile access once again, considering the hassle of AV, the surfer has had to commit to...

          Anyway, that´s our take on it

                      Well, as someone who barely makes any money now, this might be a good thing for me!

                      Day 2 of $0 and 0 food again. Simply an issue of not getting paid on time, I guess the affiliate payments just come "whenever" now and I have to adjust.

                      If they ban porn, I bet I'll find a way to make more money with fully-clothed or censored porn or something. Maybe AVS style sites will make a comeback.

                                  I think there is a little misinformation in this thread. I agree that age verification will have a net negative effect on the industry and I think webmasters will suffer financially for it. Then again, Discord is doing it in certain regions so it might be less impactful than we think.

                                  However, both the age verification service (or Know Your Customer company,) and the team implementing that age verification service, have equal responsibility as to how effective AVS is. Not to mention that no matter who you go with, you need to do the research to ensure that it meets your legal requirements, since you are ultimately responsible for that.

                                  With my software package, LoginBlue, and the two firms that I chose to integrate (so far,) iDenfy and VerifyMy, the user has a fairly seamless experience which is permanently tied to their user account.

                                  Once they verify, unless there is some reason to void that verification, the user's "age status" is permanently tied to their account, and the age verification service is trusted to retain the proof, not my implementation.

                                  Here's the flow I implemented: After they sign in, they are asked to two-factor, and after that, they are asked to verify their identity. I find that age estimation is kind of a worthless implementation and is not safe to use. I don't think this will work for everyone, and if you wanted to do something like this, you would need your lawyer to sign off on it.

                                  There are a lot of poor implementations that I've come across, but as I said, AVS is half service selection, and half developer team implementation.

                                          I agree with you with what the goal is, to destroy adult, and there is a particular trend with which states are trying their hardest.

                                          I'm suggesting that the risk be taken on by the age verification companies.

                                          I would generally agree with you that we should wait for the Supreme Court, but I think the lawsuits that have already been filed provide enough incentive to do something sooner rather than later.

                                              If you don't add AV you won't get U.S. or UK sales by this time next year. We age verify after purchase, so they generally go through the process.

                                              AV will damage free porn quite a bit, so if you are a creative affiliate and can convey in words what users can't see you will do just fine.

                                                                  Paid porn will be fine. However, watch all the traffic move to offshore companies that don’t care about DMCA laws (yes, even more than today) and watch sales dry up even further for paid products.

                                                                  AVS laws in their current state are unsustainable for legit free sites, which means your best affiliates will start losing their premium traffic to site operators who don’t need to worry about US and UK laws, and by extension, won’t care if you get the traffic either.

In other words, I should be able to visit the Playboy homepage, not see any nudity but know nudity is behind the paywall, then simply signup/age verify to access it.

                                                                                                                                                                                                  The flow might look like this:

                                                                                                                                                                                                  User from Florida? Yes.
                                                                                                                                                                                                  - > SFW Tour -> Ready To Join=Yes? -> AgeVerify>18=Yes? -> Create Token - > Complete Purchase -> Bind Token - > Proceed to Members area.

                                                                                                                                                                                                  The idea is that now if the feds knock on your door, they will ask to see that your paying member was actually age verified.

                                                                                                                                                                                                  It sounds complicated but it is actually not too hard to do.
