I didn't feel anything in the south.

In Thailand luckily only a building under construction went down.
And many buildings need inspection (not build for earthquakes)

i was about 2 miles away from where the building collapsed in thailand. was in a car at the time in typical bangkok traffic jam, just felt like driving through some beach sand. some people with rooftop pools had waves, but no other buildings collapsed. rumor has it the developer used cheap materials. also just like america uses mexicans for their shit manual labor jobs, thailand uses migrants from myanmar, cambodia, burma, laos most workers were likely undocumented. the quake did not feel that big in bangkok and almost nothing felt in pattaya from what i hearComment

Get people asking how we are in Thailand. They show the pictures on TV from Bangkok together with Myanmar and people think Bangkok is destroyed. While worst must be in Myanmar. But there are 1001 youtubers in Thailand and few in Myanmar (civil war). Bangkok was lucky.
But there are 3000 inspections needed in Bangkok. It was never build earthquake resistant. Only since 2009 some new rules. Some could go down next shock. Need to inspect every floor and column first. Like Mexico, Bangkok is built on river beds, so the underground isn't that stable. You could even see that in Puerto Vallarta, houses on the mountain rocks hardly noticed the earthquake. While new high rise building created on river beds/swamps where shaking.

Movement is normal, if it doesn't move too much.
But the underground is important to.
And you saw in Puerto Vallarta the most movement where there has been swamps.
Mexico City also has that problem. And Bangkok is also build on swamp.
I saw 4 same building in Mexico City in a row, 3 had nothing, 1 collapsed.
Mexico City Was Built on an Ancient Lake Bed.
That Makes Earthquakes Much Worse.
