    Offering a discounted spouse badge is something I haven’t seen, but would make an awful lot of sense for those of us who travel with them.

    Traffic Services, that’s very much a whole category of being a service provider that isn’t affiliate.

        Well they denied me and I think it's pretty funny. Seems like I always get denied the first time around, not sure what about theheron.net screams big baller shot caller and not 1999 affiliate?
        Also do models have to pay now?? Or maybe I didn't look enough

                                    In 2000 I remember going to YP Mexico and meeting someone who claimed they could send us two hundred joins a day. We drank and we laughed and we drank some more and said "That would be great" but never expected to hear from him again. We got back to Phoenix, he signed up, and started sending us two hundred joins a day to a single site (and I still remember which site too). By the end of the month he was sending to all of our sites and it was just insane.

                                    The entire point of shows back then was to find those affiliates. Affiliates also loved the shows because it was the only time they could hang out with models & porn stars and see some titties. But the affiliate game has been over for some time now.

When shows come up with comp badges which don't map to who the sponsors are and don't map to who can afford them and have some sort of anonymously juried system, that definitely leads to bad feelings and can really impact the demographics of who is showing up in undesirable ways.

                                                        Yes, AVN charges talent, I think maybe mostly to sell badges to booths who will distribute the badges to models, but I do know models who buy badges.

                                                        In 2024, talent is likely to make more dough than almost any other role, but I think are disinclined to pay.

                                                            Why did the show stop being at The Venetian?

                                                            But I believe AVN did a hotel buyout this year, so you may not be able to be in the hotel at all without a badge.

                                                                If AVN really wanted to spark interest in the show again...they should be giving talent free badges. Escpecially talent with huge social media presence.
                                                                Hell...these girls should be GIVEN tables at AVN to set up as well.

                                                                Few years back Theo and company (who owned it then) sold spots on the floor for models for cheap. We paid $500 for a booth. And they had that one whole section of "The Joint" floor space at The Hard Rock just for all the models.
                                                                The fans fucking loved it and the show was packed.

                                                                They should get back to that.

                                                                We always get SWAMPED outside the show at the bar. The fans are so eager to actually see and meet someone like Claudia Marie that they could talk to for a minute because the show floor is so sparse on girls.

                                                                I personally feel like AVN could turn that show around by treating the pornstars like stars and not charge them. Fill that showroom up with porn girls and watch the fans come back and fill that room.

                                                                Last years AVN show inside that fucking tent at Resorts World was the low point in my humble opinion.

                                                                            They double booked that weekend with another convention.

                                                                            This is one of the reasons we are back at Virgin.

                                                                            There are tens of thousands of Creators now... where do you draw the line as to who gets a free badge and who doesnt?

                                                                                                                Having said that, I’d like to point out that shows are meant to be networking events between service providers (programs, billers, hosts) and people who can send them sales.

                                                                                                                The people financing these shows (service providers) have no interest in dealing with Joe Schmo whom is still learning the basics. They want to meet the people that can actually drive significant amounts of sales.

                                                                                                                So if you start catering to newbies, you lose the people who are paying big money to attend. The show organizers business model would fall appart.

                                                                                                                Now, having said that, let’s also acknowledge that times have changed. The lion’s share of traffic has been consolidated between a few dozen companies and the odd one-man-army.

                                                                                                                Its hard for businesses to justify buying big packages while show organizers are dealing with shrinking profit margins.

                                                                                                                Do I have the answer to their problems? No. But I definitely know that encouraging the growth of everybody’s business is the way forward, even if that means paying for tickets that used to be free

                                                                                                                                                                Theo bought the AVN and decided that it was simply too expensive to continue to run it in conjunction with CES.

                                                                                                                                                                We had a lot of people complain about the costs of rooms during CES.

                                                                                                                                                                So he moved the show away from CES and away from the Venetian.

                                                                                                                                                                Rooms were much less expensive on a different weekend and at a different venue.

                                                                                                                                                                Now rooms are just expensive everywhere and every weekend.
