I recently finished reading the book. Not an easy ready at all; very weird style - beautiful but awkward. Lots of words most people will not recognize; it's written in a way that sometimes you have no idea what's going on. The subject matter is shocking (and explicit) to say the least. Never read anything like it in my life. I really enjoyed the first half of the book... but I found the second half to be extremely tedious.

Touchy subject for a porn-related board . . . The first film (scripted by the author of the book) has a much darker undertone which I appreciate and it has the best Claire Quilty (Peter Sellers) on it so it wins.

The first Lolita movie was good, and Peter Sellers was brilliant, but it's a kind of shame that Kubrick didn't make it 5 or 10 years later than he did. I'm sure it would have been on the 'banned list' along with A Clockwork Orange.Comment
