Mainstream Affiliate prog percentages

I have been doing research on this i they all are in the range of 10-15 percent of the sale. Sites that sell actual goods ie: books, and so on. Is this too low or do you think that the conversions are very good that it doesnt matter?

The conversions suck. But as a company, how could you afford to pay more than 10-15%?

Purchase product for $4 sell for $40 = $36 left lets say give aff 20%

36-8 - 28 left in pocket. Cost of shipping is added to customer and markups for boxes etc. So we got arounf $24 left for me profit give or take

The profit margins on many products sold online are lower than what you see in adult.

That's what they tell you.

Maybe. Anyone know what Amazon's average markup is on each book sold? Of course, their marketing and overhead expenses are a little more than the average adult site, but I wonder what their markup is on average for books.
