    Do you tell your friends or damily?

    Might be that this thread has been on the board before but I couldn't find it.

    I was just wondering who tells their friends and family that they work in the pornbiz.
    My parents know and my friends know but I guess if I tell my grandparents about it gramma might whoop my ass.

    Do you tell your family you do business on the internet or do you just tell them you are in the pornbiz?

              Yeah, told everybody who asks, the real problem lies with my girlfriend, she's anxious to answer her parents questions about my job...:-)

                      When we lived in Seattle, we told anyone who asked and some who didn't. Most folks thought it was cool.
                      My family knows. Hell, my mother in law runs our stats program for us. On the payroll. On the clock every morning. She's the best employee we've got. Oh wait, she's the only employee we've got.
                      My father in law runs errands for us, so we can work uninterrupted and takes care of the dogs. All of my family has been supportive and non judgmental.
                      Two years ago, we moved to Georgia, one of 22 hostile states...and we tell no one what we do. It's been difficult and leaves us with a feeling of isolation. Ever since a recent conference, where we heard lawyers speak about what the obscenity laws mean and the cases up before the Supreme Court, we've been pretty circumspect about being in the adult business.

                              Tanker and I don't tell people right off the bat. Close family and friends know but its not something that I would advertise to people that you don't know very well. You never know what people will do or say.

                                          I was a private school teacher previous to doing this...My mother and Aunt are very well respected in the industry, so I cannot be too vocal about what I do. Although my parents and most of my friends know. Since I do not work in content people seem ok with what I do....Needless to say my grandparents just know I work for an internet company.

                                              Well most of my friends and my family know it but beside this I do non-adult business and I don't think customers would like it much.
                                              But anyway I think everybody should be proud of what they do.

                                                  I think it really depends on who you are dealing with. My immediate family, boyfriend and closest friends all know what I do and they are fine with it. I just don't feel the need to fill in my grandmother, distant relatives or new people that I meet on the fact that I'm in the porn biz. It's only the people that matter that should know or care anyways.

                                                                                      In Vegas I conducted an experiment...After the splitinfinity party (6am ish) I met a girl who wanted to go swimming, I assumed she knew what I did (being a porn convention and all) so off we went for breakfest to wait for the pool to open...We talked about her being in school, her ex-boyfriend, etc...Then I asked her why she was at a porn convention? She stated that she and her friends never noticed ,they actually thought it was an NBA party???? During breakfast she told me how nice I was, and asked what I did? I told her I worked for Orgasm.com and waited for her response, she thought I was lying and told me that someone at the party told her I was "content"....to her being "content" was really bad, but selling and marketing porn was ok? Go Figure??? So in the end she thought that it was ok since I didn't act like I was in porn (it is really important to note at this point that I was dressed like a 70's pimp , I am 6'2 200lbs and am wearing yellow skin tight bell bottoms, open snakeskin shirt, 70's Christian Dior glasses lots of gold and a purple cowboy hat with 3 fur tails, I looked really not normal!!)...So the outcome of this experiment??? Don't know I guess it all depends on the person, some people are dicks and some are not...this board is filled with both types and we all work in porn.

                                                                                                          My father said to Tanker "thats one of the best businesses to be in because porn will never go out of style". There are alot of companies that are on the internet that are going down hill but Porn is still strong. It's not illegal and its a business. You know that most people that dont know about the ins and outs of being a webmaster think that you shoot the content yourself... I book hotel rooms online with several of my non-adult sites. (conversion rates blow away my best porn sites) so I can tell people about that. I also sell viagra through Kwikmed, but all of my sales come from affliates, so I don't really know if that is from porn pages or not.

                                                                                                                                          My wife was a bit leary of my new TGP, but I make sure to show her the checks and then she thinks its cool. She was also excited about the Vegas show but we didn't make it this year. Show her some money and take a fun vacation and she's converted!

All my friends know. The only person i don't let know is my daughter at the moment. Just figure if its put the wrong way by her, my ex(her mum) might not appreciate it. Probably wouldnt care, but its best not to take chances if it involves access to your child really. Think i will leave that one for a while
