Which is the best to escape the western world for good
I've only been to Thailand. koh samuii and koh tao
25 years ago i went to Samui and Koh tao, i thought it was beautiful.
I went back 5 years ago and it was completely ruined.
Before you decide, just take a year to stay in a few countries and different cities.
You probably need a visa run anyway every 90 days.
Soon Thai visa regime will change, than you can get Visa Free for 60 days and extend 30 days.
Will travel to Asia soon. The weather in Holland sucks for months now.
After soi 6 in Pattaya you could visit the Marine Disco and have some more fun.
Last time i was in Asia i did 3 months Thailand, 3 months Cambodia, 3 months Vietnam from Hanoi to Phu Quoc. And than 3 months India and extended that 7 months, cause i got stuck cause of covid.
Many cities like Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Bangkok you want to escape when it is hot. I was on the island Phu Quoc in low season (vietnam), nothing to do and a lot of rain and storms. 4 ships washed ashore.
I start in Thailand next month and look where the weather is best, the side of Koh Samui, Krabi or Pattaya and decide than where to go. Seems like Krabi became the Backpacker hotspot. After Corona some small islands got hit hard and still all small businesses are gone i heard.
In rainy season Pattaya is always nicer than an empty island. The electricity keeps going, more to do indoor, your hut won't float away, restaurants stay open, nice condo's, low prices. It looks like it is rainy season in Holland now for about 8 months, than i prefer rainy season in Thailand.
Ps, Thailand is busy changing the tax rules. The famous "pay dividends 1 year later" seems to be gone next year.
If you want to skip the western degenerates and streets full of hookers, then consider Vietnam, if on low budget. If budget is not an issue, then obviously Singapore, which is 100 years ahead of both EU and US combined.

I am going to Asia in a few months...starting in Thailand for a month, then moving next. I have a dilemma, maybe someone can help. I want to have a base at one place for the first month...monthly rent is cheapest, anyway and I don't want to move my stuff either.
I am thinking either Bangkok or Pattaya, since they are close to each other. I love the sea and the beach, I would love to have the option to swimm there every day. On the other day, I love big cities and the options they are offering...and I would choose a nice place in Bangkok close to city center, with a roof pool, gym, etc. Bus or train between both cities is 2 hours...so no biggie, I can visit both easily, even if choosing one to stay. I don't know which to choose, though.

In Pattaya it is forbidden to rent Airbnb apartments shorter than 30 days.
Therefor you see mostly 1 month rentals on airbnb.
I wouldn't swim in the sea in Pattaya. Too dirty. Better use the hotel pool.
I would go 1 month Pattaya, go there directly with a taxi from the airport.
Or with the big bus (downstairs in the airport).
Never take a small mini bus if you want to live longer. https://www.namstaxiladydrivers.com/
Than you want to travel more, so you need to go to Bangkok, stay there 1 or 2 weeks.

Yeah, I know about the 30 day rule, thats not an issue, thats exactly how much time I plan to spend there.
But the beach is a bummer...I was looking forward to that. I hope "dirty" is subjective in this case, can you elaborate more on that?
I know there is a small island near by, with a very nice beach and clean water...but its not like I will go there daily, so thats not an alternative.

All the shit from the people in Pattaya ends up in the sea, without filtering.
On the beach you see rats as big as cats who are feeding from the food stands.
People who want to swim indeed go to the small island during the day.
If you want to swim, better go to an island. But all depends what you want during your trip.
I went many times to Koh Chang and from there to Cambodia.

Is it the same all over the city or mainly Pattaya beach? I am thinking either North or Jomtien. But if its that bad, I might as well stay in Bangkok and do weekend trips to Phuket, Koh Samui, etc.

Pattaya is better than Bangkok when Bangkok is too hot or flooded.
Many people from Bangkok en Pattaya go on holiday to Koh Chang.
Always traffic jams at the ferries on Thai holidays.

These recommendations are a pure joke. If the state department was any honest, how would they rate the US? Surely would be level 4, too, because it is one of the most dangerous countries worldwide for random attacks.

I think the recommendations are there to save your life. Myanmar is no holiday destination; Hati would be closer and safer at present for Americans.

Saudi Arabia - Level 3: Reconsider Travel
SA is safer than any western country and not by a bit...but by a MILE. People in the West can't even comprehend the level of safety, because its something they never experienced.

according to the US my country is level 3 and my parish is level 4. US gov officials under Chief of Mission are actually forbidden to enter my town
the threat is serious, they could get bitten by a goat
for real though, Retiree is spot on. those 'advisories' are usually pretty useless
my mom spent a couple months in Laos and Vietnam a few years back for a work thing, she had a an absolute blast. as an aside, Vientiane is the prettiest name for a city ever
also fantastic eating for peeps with celiac/wheat allergies

Well, I've certainly experienced Saudi Arabia and I know my wife will never go back because of.... the level of safety. Might be ok in mining villages, hotels or military bases but out of them and its heads up stay alert and reserved, you're in Muslim town.
Anyways ignore the warnings and report back on how Myanmar is for vacation. I'm in Thailand 1-3 times a year for the past 25 was there all Dec/January and back again in Nov, wify loves the place and the plan is to eventually retire there.

I spent some time in Riyadh felt 100% safe, so did my GF. Planning to come back to check out Jeddah. And we weren't in a hotel...I was looking for the real experience, so we rented from a local and stayed in a residential area, I didn't see another tourist in our neighborhood. We were walking all over the city freely until 5AM, only met helpful locals.
If I compare that with London, Paris or basically any US city, there I felt danger all the time, but extremely at night.

Yeah, its a joke...most of the world is a very safe place, people are being scared into staying in their own little town their whole lives. What a waste of life that is.

When I lived in Costa Rica there was a specific US state department advisory recommending that tourists stay away from the nightlife clubbing district we hung out at 2-3 nights a week. That was always good for a laugh.
Might want to list the type of lifestyle you’re looking for and why you want to move.
The lifestyle I like is to fuck one to three different girls aged between 18 to 28 every day at an affordable price which, in my country, would cost a fortune. That's why I moved to SE Asia.
