Those people are just jealous...

They are jealous becuz the majority of the people are dumb, but still the country is rich and powerfull and the living standars are high...

In contrary,
Asians, Indians, Turks and most middle eastern countries are full of smart people but their countries are bad in economics, politics and living standards..
(i can think of only Japan being in good conditions and have smart people, but its becuz they get a lot of support from USA)

and europe is in between these two both ways....

I dont think EVERYONE in the world hates Americans... there is probably more of a love/hate relationship going on.

It is probably because they are arrogant... but on the other hand, I rekon they have the right to be since they have saved the world on countless occasions, have made countless innovations and have generally been the protectors of the free world.

I always got that feeling on my earlier travels but could never pin point it...just thought I rubbed people the wrong way or maybe they thought I was trying too hard for attempting the languages and going to non-touristy places BUT...

I got on the internet and started hitting travel boards...whoooowheee....We are truly hated.

Such a bummer, and no I never really got a straight answer as to why.

The best advice given to me...when traveling abroad, especially to OZ, NZ and Europe...put a big ol' huge Canadian Flag sticker on your backpack, suitcase, whatever.

Everybody loves Canadians, they hate Americans. Sad, but, true. I noticed a HUGE difference in the way I was treated on my next trip.

I think we are hated because our gov't has it's nose up everybody's asses.We should really mind our own business sometimes.
Granted there are times we need to step in.Most of the time we don't.Look at Canada.Nobody hates them because they mind their own business.

Our gov't thinks that it's in a global body building competition....it's always flexing it's muscle.

I believe Americans aren't really loved around the world because it's the most patreotic country on earth. They are involved in any conflict, they're the most powerful nation (although I sometimes wonder how they made it that far - but then reviewing their history I realize the reasons) and ppl in general are just jealous.

I noticed that the European life style is so much different from the US style... hardly any europeans feel really comfortable around here.

That's exaclty what I mean - the US is involved everywhere and that's what pisses ppl off. Just like in the movies where it's the US that saves the world. Doesn't matter if it's IDay or Mars Attacks.

Why do foreigners hate Americans? Because when we travel, we expect everyone to speak English (even though frequenty they do, it isn't their duty to do so). Because we are so ignorant about art and culture, especially of the countries we visit. Because wherever we go, we tend to act like we own the place. Because even though we pollute way out of proportion to other countries, we are always wanting "more studies" before we act. Because we expect poor countries to shoulder "their fair share" when it comes to pollution, even though without the USA, the situation would be a lot less critical.

Of course, they also resent a lot of the positive things about the USA, too, which makes them jealous. They hate that we make so much good music, so many spectacular (if not great) movies. They hate that our country probably has more fantastic scenery within its borders of many different types than just about anywhere else: mountains, forests, deserts, rivers, canyons, cliffs, shorelines, etc.

Americans are not hated in Asia (not as individuals anyway), all Asians want to live in America, especially Japanese who can not be individuals in their own country so they will move anywhere they are offered an opportunity (including such retched countries as Peru)

Koreans and Chinese don't count because they hate everyone that is not a member of their immediate family

Australians really like Americans, but because they all secretly really want to be British, they pretend to hate the Americans because the British do. The British hate Americans because they wre once a colony and the british can' ever forget that they once had power.

Newzealanders are to dumb to hate anyone

The French look down on everyone it has nothing to do with hate.

The Germans are amused that anyone thinks they can possibly be as smart as they are (BMW, Mercedes and Volkswagen are the proof) hatred is no longer necessary and is bad for sales.

Most of mankind has basic animosity towards their immediate neighbors so Canadians and Mexicans are natural enemies (after all America sets the pace and they have to try to keep up) so they are allowed to have an attitude

In reality it is only the British that really hate Americans, the vocal haters that we see on CNN, are just a small group of professional agitators (students and professors) that travels around the world carrying placcards and making sound bites for the international media. (this is unfortunately true)

And everybody (including the British) wants a greencard in their christmas stocking

I thought people hated Americans because their country is usually banned by most webmaster programs and the USA isn't

I like to think its a love hate relationship becuase our contry controls the fate of the world economy and these other countires economies down to the lil mom & pop shops.

But I would agree with the foreigners that Americans are kind of cocky and or brash when they travel but what do you expect if they were in our situation I am sure they would be looked upon in the same light.

I go with Flash, Equinox and Wizard here. We stick our nose into policies that we have no business in. Biological, chemical and nuclear weapons are one thing, but sending troops, helicopters and mass fumigation to Columbia because we're a nation of partiers who won't quit... well that's just wrong. Maybe PlanColubia is a more extreme examples, but some of our 'leaders' tend to be power hungy assholes in general who make it their business to push conformity everywhere. I guess when that shows up in some of our foreign (hell, even domestic) policies, folks can get pretty ticked off.

I imagine if the religous right got their way in the USA and porn was criminalized overnight, I'd be pretty unhappy about my fellow Americans too. So, help make the world like us [again?], get out there and vote the assholes out of office!
