    Enough with the sponsor bitching

    I wake up this morning and all across this board are posts from people complaining about sponsors.
    Sponsors who cheat don't stay in business very long because they can't. Word of mouth does them in every time.

    For every 1 cheating sponsor there are 10,000 cheating webmasters.
    There are NO major sponsors shaving, cheating, not counting signups or whatever other scam you think they are running.
    If you had any idea the hoops a porn program operator has to jump through to keep everyone happy, you'd stop envying them.
    You want to see things run smoother with programs you are in?
    Turn in the fucking cheating webmasters that kill it for everyone.

                      I stopped turning in cheaters for SIC, because Robert more or less claimed that they catch 100% of the cheaters 100% of the time.

                      Every time (that I recall) someone would post it to your boards over there - there would either be a no response or a "we already knew" response.

                      I find it hard to believe you catch ALL the cheaters - especially those running ftp download type scams and the like. I wish you would catch more of the cheaters - cause

                      I am paying for PPC advertising and can't stand the useless foreign traffic. Sometimes I suspect these people I see with their referal codes over and over, but there is no way for me to usually investigate - cause I usually can't match up referal code with website.

                      Also, your policy of not informing cheaters - hurts people like me who pay for this useless traffic in the end. I totally respect your company and they have always paid me on time, but it would be nice if there was some way that the advertisers did not have to take the brunt of the cheating exploits.

                      Just my 2 cents, since you seemed rather uppity (sp?) today

                              BRAVO........ well said 12clicks..... and the cheater you report? That one may have already been caught but maybe the next one hasn't. Never ASSUME they have been caught, turn them in anyways.... that's what I do.

                              I run DialerHeaven and used to work for WebmasterCommerce, we have and had people always telling us, so and so is using the word free, no matter how many people had told us about this particular cheater before, we always say thank you and we will look into it, or thank you, we caught that one but appreciate the help.

                              I bust my ass to keep everyone happy at all times but a very dear friend of mine recently told me there is no way you are going to make everyone happy all the time...... so I took that to heart and I sleep a little better at night now.

                                      Standard Internet *DOES* catch 100% of our cheaters (well, maybe 99.9%)
                                      Of course, no one spends the time chasing them that we do so if you continue to turn them in, it will be a big help to the industry as a whole.
                                      As far as your comment about PPC and our policies hurting you, this is not true. Without going into great detail, fraudulant traffic doesn't reach our search partners (perhaps the odd click but not enough to speak of)
                                      We are in constant contact with the fraud divisions of all the search programs we work with, tweaking what we do.
                                      If we were sending bad traffic to them, we'd be cut off just like any other affiliate.
                                      Just because we send 100,000s of searches a day, does not mean a partner will pay for fraudulant clicks.

Ever thought of paying the reporting webmaster the $$ the cheater has in his account ot if there is nothing there, a $10 one time for the bit of time to try and verify the cheater IS in fact cheating and emailing it in? Just a stray thought.

                                                  Ok - well I feel a little better. I get more PPC traffic from TurboFind than anyone else (used to be dogpile).

                                                  I still wish these PPCs would get rid of foreign traffic. At least kanoodle gives me an option to opt out of search cactus crap.

                                                                                          I would think that the payout for turning a cheater in would be knowing that the sponsor you use is solid and doesn't have to make all of us pay when the cheaters take advantage. Like when people steal from a store, who pays for that? WE do....... same should apply here..... so I would think you ARE getting paid by helping the sponsor keep things clean and cheat free......... maybe not in $$$ but when the sponsor can surpass and withstand the cheaters and not let them bury them, then you can use that sponsor for a lot longer.

                                                                                          I am understanding ALOT more of why Sponsors are as hardass about cheating and their TOS, working as closely as I have been, it's making a bit more sense to me.

                                                                                                  Maybe you could have a look in to the Hall of Shame. There are 10 cheating webmasters, 3 spamming sponsors - and 2 cheating sponsors. Looks for me more like 1:5 instead 1:10000.
                                                                                                  The truth is: there are stealing police officers, lying judges and raping priests. And I doubt that a cheat will be a honest man or woman, only because he started a biz as sponsor in the adult industry.
                                                                                                  Another thing is: for a lot of cheating, the sponsors are responsible. There are click-thru-sponsors, who accept cheating as long as this traffic converts well. And there are exit-traffic-sponsors, who accept any kind of traffic, it doesn't matter if the cheater steals the traffic from a tgp, if the cheater steals from a hacked site or even from a hacked server.
                                                                                                  This doesn't mean that there are not a lot of cheating webmasters out there. But this cheating game has a lot of players.

"I didn't cheat" "he cheated me" "12clicks is the cheater!" etc etc. and 12clicks responds with his own "egotistical" way (as some put it)

                                                                                                                                      They cheated, that could be money out of the sponsor's pocket, so hey, he has the right to be the biggest dick towards that person. After reading some of the '12clicks' threads, how many cheaters are going to try to cheat him?

                                                                                                                                      I've read a lot of people sympathize for the cheaters that have been caught by 12clicks. Why? They're probably cheaters too.

                                                                                                                                              I have a novel way of determing in a sponsor is shaving your clicks. First you open up your sponsor's stats page. Next you click on a link to that sponsor. Then go refresh your stats page. If you have too many hits per second going to this sponsor that make this work, sign up a different account and then do it. You can always wip out that credit card and do the same with signups!
                                                                                                                                              Bitching when it is valid is an important thing, it alerts other webmasters about bad business. Of course, you should do them the favor of letting them know when your sponsor is getting 4 signups off of 600 raw clicks ;-)
