Staying unvaxxed was the most difficult shit of my life. I fucking cannot believe I kept a roof over my head selling books outside of liquor stores for 2+ months. How fucking humiliating. People looked at me like I was a complete piece of shit.

I have major PTSD, in the real world, I make friends so easy, and people give me their emails and phone numbers but I NEVER call or email people. I'm a digital fucking hermit.

Things have changed so much that it's hard to find a focus. Like, every new thing seems great so I chase it and develop a product, but things change again and it's too complex or pricey to make economic sense.
I started minting clips as NFTs... and then AI interrupted. AI is replacing all my editing and preproduction workflows, and the pressure of getting a dirty-talking chatbot is all important now...

Except for one, all other previously GIGANTIC mainstream forums are equally 'dead'

I think the reasons for the low traffic / low activity are:

• People moved on to FB groups / discord / slack
  
• Google's sending less traffic to traditional forums
  
• Reddit and Quora too much of the newbie/intermediate affiliate marketer traffic that previously went to GFY or mainstream forums
  
• Many forums (not GFY) screwed themselves with bad or corrupt moderation or offering "special offers" that are slightly less valuable than the steam rising off a freshly laid turd

Completely accurate. The cost of having rep's posting here or even buying banners simply doesn't give the same ROI as it once did. Affiliate programs in order to cut back have lost their rep's and opted for word of mouth and other sources for exposure.

Hey Huggles! The industry has consolidated so it's mostly just large corporations and very few individuals. Corporations don't post here, there is really no point. Affiliates have been dead for a while. All advertising is done through Ad Brokers. Profitability is just awful. You have to push enormous amounts of traffic to make any money. I only show up here occasionally because I'm bored. There is no real business to be done here and you're not going to get any business tips. GFY is horribly outdated has lost critical mass. GFY probably doesn't make enough money to justify upgrading to modern tech. The only advertisers appear to be Mojo Host and Chaturbate.

The weird thing is that back in the TGP days, people in the adult biz often shared valuable info that they would have made more money off, if they just didn't say shit about it.

When it came to mainstream, people did never really talk about what affiliate programs that made them the most money or what method they used to generate traffic.

i'm a very late adopter because dev takes time, stress, and money.

paysites are easy to launch, hard to grow, but do well once established and rebilling. all of my mid-level and bigger clients are still humming along. some of the nubies without budgets didn't make it to the end of the year.

the big problem with affiliate work is its a full-time job without the full-time pay. unless you have an established traffic network or free sites, its nearly impossible to break into that game anymore. starting a tube site? light your money on fire and go drink a beer instead.

i'm optimistic this year, but it will be a lot of work like last year. i dont have fuck else to do tho...

Sorry you have fallen on hard times. Covid hit everyone hard, but I think maybe you are putting too much blame on it. When you were working in porn, were you working from home?

When Covid hit, the adult sites I provide support services for had a huge upswing in traffic and sales. The reason is obivous - everyone was forced to stay home. Models who knew how to make their own content continued to do so, etc. I understand that you got out of the biz by then, but what was stopping you from getting back in?

I have been pretty busy in mainstream IT since 2014, and when Covid hit, things could have halted for me but fortunately I saw some opportunities such as helping small and mid0size businesses move their on-premises servers to the cloud, and help employees get connected, etc.

I was surprised to read that you tried selling books outside of liquor stores. Is that true? Kudos to you if it is. Did it work well enough for you at the time?

As for being a digital hermit, of course you're not. You are posting here, aren't you? I get that it can be overhwleming at times. What I suggest is that you try to find a way to organize everything. I myself am a total digital slob when it comes to contact management so every so often I need to clean that shit up. Once done though, I am more productive and happier too since I can find who I need to talk to, quickly.
