    Optimize JPG

    I want to make some galleries and need a app that can optimize a folder of pictures, so that I dont need to optimize one file at a time. I also want to be able to say that I want my images to be max XX kb when they have been optimized.

    Does anyone know a app that can make this?

      xat.com JPEG Optimizer Professional is really the best program i've ever seen.
      It can compress jpegs with the magiccompression feature which gives NO quality loss. it can also add watermarks and it can create thumbnails
      i've your a gallery make , than this is the only tool you need..

                  I cant find in Xat JPEG Optimizer where I can tell the the pictures should have a max size. I need this since some freehosts has a limit for maybe 50Kb or 100Kb. Then I want to be able to take a folder, run a program that makes that no image is bigger than lets say 50Kb (if thats what I want)

                          I know what you asked for, but 50K is pretty big - are you just trying to max it out?

                          If your purpose is to get into the limit - I would guess that setting the pics to a maximum width of 500 and compression of 75 would take care of it - This is about what I use and I think that the largest image I have is like 37K.

                          There may be something that does what you want, but are you sure that is really what you need?

                          It would be a neat feature, but I have tried about 6 or 7 and don't recall ever seeing that. I am not sure the program could tell until after it compresses it - so it might have to be an iteritive process.

                              Hi ChrisR,
                              thanks for your reply. Yes it would be a neat future. I didnt mean that if the host has a limit for 50k I want the images to be exactly 50k, maybe 40k instead, but I think you understod that.
                              I gues I will stick to Fireworks then, it seems pretty good.
