Down: Candid, Smutserver, Techiemedia, SinHost?

There are posts about all of these hosts being down right now. I figured that it was maybe a bigger problem, so I checked InternetPulse, but all seems well.

I am hosting with Candid and thought my server was down also, earlier on, but after using a proxy, I discovered that Comcast cable was to blame for my problems.

Have you had any problems tonight?

I do a lot of work from home and I find that virtually every time I have a problem it's my Comcast connection.

If SinHost ever had down time, bells and whistles would be going off in all the 4 corners of the universe for me, my techs and all the clients... LOL

I find that while my cable modem connection isn't reliable... that SinHost is. Fundamentally, it must be the difference between paying for a carrier quality connection and buildout versus being home users and having to worry about the last mile... or the few main peering points that Comcast has, or their DNS server resolution.

Thankfully, we're in the cage across Verio's main POP here in Michigan at the Switch and Data Southfield location. So, on the other end of my fiber connection to them there is several million dollars in buildout and multiple transport out to the rest of the web by fiber from McLeod, Level3, Verio and SBC.

Cheers,

Brad
